My little pond is all dried up, had to go hunting for models. I got a Big Mac and headed for the beach. I was alternating bites of burger and shooting seagulls from the window, looked over and a little femaled Boat Tailed Grackle was sitting in the window watcheng me eat. My camera bag always has a little ziploc full of dry cat food just for these occassions. She ate some from my hand, but I couldn't use a camera that way. I put a handfull on top of my camera bag, and she settled in for lunch. The males aren't this tame, they are too macho. I suspect that grackles are among the smarter birds, they figure things out pretty quick.
COOLNESS!

Great as always, SS!
aw, here’s some of SWAMPSNIPER’s great work that I was telling you about.
Too funny, Swampy!
The gulls at the local drive in restaurant are nearly that tame/bold. You better not wave a french fry around to emphasize a point, cause the beggars will come right in the window and snatch it out of your hand!
Wonderful. Thank you!
It’s just now safe for me to go to the beach. When there are a lot of sunbathers people see the big lens and think I’m sneaking bikini pics, LOL. They called the cops on a friend of mine, he had to show them all his bird pictures. You have to be very careful when there are little kids on the beach
Cat food ... great bait! LOL Love the pix!
When did America become Amerika? Beaches are public places, or they used to be, anyway.
I think your friend lost an opportunity to have the gestapo support him in the style he would like.
That would make quite a false arrest case. I can see the headlines now:
EXTRA! EXTRA! Photographer Busted Taking Pictures Of Young Gulls!
“They called the cops on a friend of mine,...”
A attorney could have gotten the name of the whackos who filed the complaint during discovery, then counter sued them.

“..he had to show them all his bird pictures.”
Had he stood on his rights, the jury would have seen the pictures, then I suspect they would have found in his favor.
So sad that you have to think that way or that people would even pay any attention to someone taking pics. Shaking head.
We don’t go to the beach either, even tho it’s only a couple of miles away. Too many damn tourists.
My favorite bumper snicker? If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?
Bless you for sharing your talent!
Appreciate the little rays of sunshine!
That last picture is what I see each day here too.
They cruise by just in case I have any food that day.
I always share it and often have something extra too.
LOL! Same here and our “this” looks exactly like that! Ours is a 16 year old male orange Maine Coon named Freedom who peaked out at 32 lb a couple years ago and now weighs a svelte 18 lb. Always looking for food - a food spill doesn’t stand a chance with this guy around. He will walk with you to show you where his dish is 25 times a day just in case you forgot.
Awesome as always!
My smile for the evening. Thanks.
Bless you Swampy. My lady friend is at Crescent Beach as I type this. I’m going to send her the link to this thread.
These were at Vilano Beach, about 10 miles North of Crescent Beach.
I think we need a photo of Freedom. (I have lots of kitty pics on my profile page ... we have 9 kitties!)
Thanks. I figured about ten miles. She’s down there with a bunch of her female friends and they are looking to shop if the going gets tough. LOL. I love your shots. You always complain about not being able to get around much but you are really mobile with the camera. Good job.
