I agree with Eng. Doesnt mean I dont like or respect Palin. I am just stating an observation and gut feeling...She wont carry over from the base.

She left most non partisans with a lingering impression that she lacks intelligence and a command of a lot of the issues.

Now, you may correctly say that the same is true for Barry and Joe - and you would be correct. But the reason the RATS get away with having inferior candidates is that the media will cover and protect them. We dont have that luxury, even with Fox.

Therefore, the GOP needs to have superior candidates just to level the field.

As far as 2012, I dont have a short list. But I suggest that instead of focusing on the superficial (WHOS our leader), lets solidify the conservative message and pound the dhimms (in 2010) and highlight the damage they have dealt this country.

Take back the house, neutralize the senate. Get back to core principles, and hold the elected GOP to account (unlike the W years).

the public (non partisans) will put he GOP back in the majority and raise the chances of dethroning Barry in 2012.

While Palin will help energize the base, I highly doubt she will be on the 12 ticket.

THAT is a series challenge.

Is he up to the challenge?...

Still waiting, for the preferred 2012 candidate, of the so-called poster.

A mitten? I don't get how you ever got that from me. You are clueless as a human, aren't you?

Bro, I've tried being patient with your foolishness, all to no avail. You and me obviously disagree and conversing with you is like arguing with a five year old who refuses to be sane.

Democrat ads will also excoriate her for “walking away from her job” in 2009.

They could. But if they do, the run for that type of ad will be very short-lived.

Why?

The rebuttal ad.

"President Barack Obama, the man who has led this nation down the road to perdition, 15% unemployment, massive underemployment, lost a war it could have and should have won, and tried to engineer the confiscation of your healthplan and your retirement funding, spent a grand total of 140 days as an active U. S. Senator before declaring himself president.

"That's 140 days!

"Let's not make that mistake this time around.

"Not only did his inexperience cost us immeasurably, his mistakes will require a major restructuring to pull us back from the brink that otherwise wouldn't have been necessary for the country.

"Let's get it right this time! We need a President who:
"Can and will support the troops!
"Can and will bring jobs back to America the right way, jobs that are here to stay!
"Can and will effect the proper approach for health care in this country!
"Can and will bring the moral compass back to America!
"Can and will restore the sense of pride and purpose that has always been the true measure of America!

"This time, let's do it right - for our families, for our children, and our grandchildren. Let's give them a legacy they - and we - can be proud of!

"End the dreadful Democratic "experiment" in America...Vote Palin 2012?"

Not necessarily the way it will go, but you get the drift, I'm sure....

“You started out of the gate, like Levi Johnston.”

No, he didn’t. Palin absolutely needs to perform better than she did in 2008 if she’s going to go anywhere. She absolutely dropped the ball when the heat was on. Granted, she had fire coming from every direction, but that’s life as a conservative on the national stage. Especially when you’re upholding your principles.

It’s a shame a guy like Thompson couldn’t have got his act together and come out of the gate like he meant it. I have no doubts he could handle the heat. Palin, well, she’s got charisma, but can she stand in the lion’s den and come across both competent and collected?

Don’t rule Sarah out, but don’t rule this guy’s line of reasoning, either. A poll came out showing over 70% of pollees didn’t think she was qualified to be president. Any Republican who is going to be President HAS to overcome the criticism of the MSM—just make it blatantly obvious. Palin didn’t.

I think it’s going to take less of a smooth-talker than in 08, seeing as how bad Obama has messed everything up, but we need someone who can still stand in the ring with the guy.

Palin might be our gal. But asking if there’s anything more is perfectly legit and not at all Levi Johnston status. It’s hard to deny Palin’s blunders, even in the face of her crucifixion by the media.

Anyone who has actually drunk enough of the Katie Couric Kool-aid to believe that Palin can't win is a brain-dead tool. If she's such political toast, how did ONE WORD from her force the Senate to remove "end of life counseling panels" from their healthcare bill? How did one word from her get Scuzzyfavors to drop out of NY23?

Maybe you just accidentally left your brain turned "off" when you got up today.

You have to learn to think for yourself, but first you have to learn to think. Base opinions on observable facts and provable truth, and not on what the libmedia tells you you must think.

Stop being a DemLib tool.

I'm not really worried at this point by that 70% number.

Why?

First, the election is 3 years out. That's almost infinity in politics.

Second, Sarah is the only one with constant visibility presently on the national stage. With her, even bad press is good. It keeps her in the public eye.

Next, there is an unmistakable affinity between this electoral season and the 1977 - ‘80 run-up to the election. There is apparently the same tidal wave of grassroots support building for a fundamental change in the political landscape. A certain one-term presidency, born of abortive Democrat/Socialism/Communism policies and their implementation (and disastrous effects), pretty much insures a seismic event occurring in 2012.

The question is, who successfully rides the crest of this tidal wave to the presidency? In spite of all the nay-sayers, Sarah's visibility and communication skills put her in a very enviable position.

As for any perceived negatives that might impugn on Ms. Palin prior to the election, especially with regard to her (seeming) inelectability, I'm reminded of a bumper sticker (yes, the “ignorant”, unwashed masses do relate to and respond to the phenomenon of bumper stickers) I saw back in ‘80, when there were similar questions about Reagan:

“Why not an actor for President? We've had a clown the past 4 years!”

Palin’s interviews killed her with the general public

Maybe, at that point in time, but she has plenty of time to redeem herself with the voters. I'm completely amazed at the defeatism folks seem to have with regard to those TWO interviews. Did they not listen to anything she said, otherwise?

What the media says isn't holding sway as much, anymore; witness Obama's fall from grace with Independent voters. So they may not be able to frame her message, as they were able to do under the rules set by the McCain campaign in 2008.

Jim DeMint.

on a ticket with Duncan Hunter, of course.

Unfortunately, if this site is evident of what’s going on ‘out there’, we’re in for more of the same in 2010/2012. Folks ‘round here have jumped the gun and are already ‘worshiping’ their choice. They’ve drunk the kool-aid just like they did with their idea of the ‘most electable’ Thompson and that’s how we ended up with McShamnesty.

I will not support ANY candidate who will give ANY Amnesty of ANY kind to ANY illegal aliens. Period. And if they insist on pushing a such a candidate to the top, I’ll ‘write in’ the name of the most conservative candidate.

"Seventy-one percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday morning believe the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee is not qualified to be president, with 29 percent saying she does have the credentials to serve in the White House. Republicans appear split, with 52 percent saying she's qualified and 47 percent disagreeing with that view."

Oh, I'm sure they DO believe that. IIRC, Reagan had similar numbers, prior to 1976. Imagine if conservatives had written him off at that time, instead of giving him another chance. Amazing how a little time and effort can change things, so dramatically.
