Was I Immoral or Wrong? (Vanity)

Posted on 11/30/2009 9:56:50 PM PST by TheArizona

My wife has Christmas pictures sceheduled in about a week. I was told to take myself and my older boy to Great Clips and have our hair cut. (No $1200 haircuts for me.)

Anyways, it was near closing time and there were 2 people working, a female and a male. The man was a big dude in height and weight maybe 6'0 200+ lbs with a beard and Go-T. Sorry, I don't know how to spell it. His fingernails were painted black and had an obvious gay accent.

Any thoughts?

Great Clips are inexpensive barber shops. You get what you pay for, with a homosexual thrown in for free.........

You'll probably get more attention to detail on your cut from a homosexual than a female barber..........

Lighten up....

I’m constantly changing hair styling shops because all the women stylists I’ve been to keep hitting on me.........”Don’t ask me out, just cut my darn hair!”

It is your determination who will cut your hair and the hair of your son. Nobody else can decide that for you. If you don’t want a gay man near your son, that’s your business and you don’t need to feel guilty for it.

Not only should you not feel guilty, you should unashamedly proclaim that you have the complete moral right to decide EVERYTHING about the welfare of your child without the need to explain or defend your actions to anyone outside your family. You have done the right thing, now continue your actions in the future only do not ever feel the need for justification from outsiders again :-)

I guess I don’t really feel guilty. I didn’t think twice about asking for the female to do it, I would do it again if the same situation presented itself. I don’t think I really need to defend my actions.

I simply had an encounter and was pondering it afterwards. I guess I wish to know what other like minded people would have done or think about the situation.

And the Lesbians have just as clearly said that you are not.

Yeah, we shouldn’t judge people by the outward image they put so much effort into projecting; We shouldn’t judge anyone, at all, for any reason, ever.

Yes, DieHard the Hunter, there is.

I am not sure I understand why you object to this so vigorously. It is real and not a “figment of television’s overheated imagination”.

This “obvious gay accent” has been around long before television. This “accent” would be clearly recognizable to someone back in the 1920’s for what it indicates.

Furthermore, it stretches across geographical and linguistic delineations in this country. The accent is evident in every part of this country.

As I said, the presence of this accent is not an indicator in itself, since there are male homosexuals who do not exhibit it, but let’s be for real. You can deny it exists, but that does not erase the existence of it.

And you can insist it exists, but that does not mean that it does exist.

“I felt guilty for possibly being a homophobe. I erred on the side of my son.
For the record, I have no problem with gay men”

I’d say if you aren’t homophobic in this situation, you should be. Flaming homosexuals are MUCH more likely to have diseases than normal men or any women.

I guess we will just have to disagree with each other on this.

“Yeah, we shouldn’t judge people by the outward image they put so much effort into projecting; We shouldn’t judge anyone, at all, for any reason, ever.”

So you take it to the other extreme and judge every book by its cover? Whether you know anything about the person or not, just make a snap judgement, damn someone to being automatically evil in your own mind without getting to know them at all? Black fingernails and a “gay accent” doesn’t mean a person is gay or a pedophile or a freak. Just because I don’t wear much makeup or frilly clothes, and have a deep voice, I’ve been accused of being a lesbian. I am not. I am a conservative Christian heterosexual woman, but someone like you would never take the time to find that out, because you’d rather take the easy way out and damn me before you know me. Shame on you.

I’ve known guys who use a “gay accent” and certain affectations to pick up women, since some women seem unsually drawn to that.

I don’t see anything wrong with not wanting a sodomite to cut your or your childs hair.

You are the customer. And given the sodomite prediliction for boys you are also a good father. You were neither immoral nor wrong.

Ha ha, shame on me for not running a ten page character profile on every service employee that I anticipte contact with for less than twenty minutes. Yes, I judge service people by the aura they choose to project. A flannel & jeans wearin saleswoman might be great fun as a friend, but I’m not going to ask her opinions about lingerie. I wouldn’t ask a biker guy about make-up. I wouldn’t ask a gay man to help me choose a lawnmower. Might they be experts in their fields? Sure. Do I have half an hour to strike up a conversation with them, delve into their past, and find out whether they majored in cosmetology or mechanical engineering? No.
I just don’t care that much.

Everyone gets judged; the only way to avoid it is to ‘say nothing, do nothing, be nothing’. If you don’t like the way you’re percieved, then change your appearance. Otherwise, just sit back and enjoy it.

Anyway, for alot of people, having a gay hairdresser would be a positive thing. Does that mean people that choose him over the woman are mean and judgemental, too?

“I just don’t care that much”

and I think that one statement tells me everything I need to know about you. You are the only loser in this situation, by making your 10 second assesments of your fellow human beings, you are missing out on lots of intelligence and insight and interesting people, who might be able to help you out with what you seek. But you’d rather hurry along in life, being constantly negative and assuming the worst. They won’t miss being around you, that’s for sure. Hope you don’t have kids you’re passing your bad attitude on to.

“I don’t see anything wrong with not wanting a sodomite to cut your or your childs hair.”

There was no evidence of the man being a “sodomite” other than black fingernails and a “gay accent”.

It is one thing not to attend or take your children to gay pride parades or gay clubs where you know for sure people are gay, but to stay away from a hairdresser using only that criteria? I find it a bit paranoid.

I have five, and I’m teaching them that using good judgement and common sense is a positive thing. But I’m sure your thing is working well for you, too.

Speaking of judgement, though, why do you assume I’m discriminating on the basis of percieved good or evil, rather than competence, which as I’ve stated is my only concern? Are you judging me? (gasp!)
