Was I Immoral or Wrong? (Vanity)

Posted on 11/30/2009 9:56:50 PM PST by TheArizona

My wife has Christmas pictures sceheduled in about a week. I was told to take myself and my older boy to Great Clips and have our hair cut. (No $1200 haircuts for me.)

Anyways, it was near closing time and there were 2 people working, a female and a male. The man was a big dude in height and weight maybe 6'0 200+ lbs with a beard and Go-T. Sorry, I don't know how to spell it. His fingernails were painted black and had an obvious gay accent.

Andy:
Ya know Floyd, I really would not worry what Howard Sprague said ...*ouch*... but did you happen to notice the flies were still hoverin' over Aunt Bee's pickles until that dandy from Mt. Pilot threatened to put on a play? Now that boy could draw flies ...

Floyd:
oh yes!... i mean ...no Andy ....ah gee

LOL

OK that thing isn't cutting my kid's hair either.

Did someone give that thing a filling in its back molar or is that a bit of buckshot stuck in there?

Just for the record I am not a Christian, I am a Jew but really had no religious upringing. However, I am thankful for the rights given by God, I would prefer living in a “Christian” country as opposed to an athiest country, I am inspired when great words are spoken in a religious context (W did that well).

I also do not believe that you have to be a Christian or religious to be anti abortion or anti gay marriage. I am against abortion in all cases. I believe the doctors that perform ought to be tried and hung. Marriage is a religious instution, not a government institution. Marriage always has been and always should be between 1 man and 1 woman.

Just a little perspective.

An Emo is often mistaken for a Goth. Certainly they can appear similar: both wear make-up (tends to be black and white), both tend to go for piercings and dark clothing, and many members of both go for an “androgynous” look.

The differences end in appearance.

“Emo” is short for “emotional” or “emotive”, and they wallow in Angst in its various dark, adolescent forms: depression, bulimia, anorexia, self-destruction.

In short, it is a celebration of some fairly serious mental illnesses.

So an Emo will typically talk about life’s futility and heartbreaking sorrow and pathos. They congregate with others who will do the same: often in groups of 20 or more. It’s actually sick. Alternatively, it’s a superb attention-grabbing strategy.

Emos are generally harmless. So are Goths, but perhaps less so. Just crazy mixed-up kids, I guess.

If I were buying a jacket and he was ringing me up, I wouldn’t care. However, a haircut is a somewhat intimate experience. You are vulnerable, you are placing trust in them, they are physically touching you.

I am not remotely interested either, but he was pretty much screaming with his appearance mannerisms.

Reminds me of George Carlin's people I can do without.

A brain surgen with 'BORN TO LOSE' tattooed on his hand.

A funeral director who says 'Hope to see you folks again real soon.'

A waitress with a visible infection on her serving hand.

An airline pilot wearing two different shoes.

A proctologist with poor depth perception.

A dentist with blood in his hair.

You need to do what you feel comfortable with. One thing is to consider the authority figures (and to a 3-year-old, his hairdresser IS an authority figure) you wish around your son.

My older son, when he was little, had — at a kiddie hair salon, mind you!! — a hairdresser who was full of piercings all over. He was good with hair, and a nice, docile person, but I couldn’t take the piercings, and didn’t want my son to think that trashing your body was OK, so I stopped going there after a few times.

Your #1 is silly. Men go to male hairdressers (BARBERS!) all the time.

Personally, if it was just you and not your son, I think you could have let that guy do your hair. But I get it with regards to your little boy for sure.

The barber shop is where guys in my age group, at least the ones I knew went. My kids, when they were little had Grandpa cut their hair.

Now, my boys go to great clips or fantastic sams. whatever i have a coupon for. My girls, that’s a different story. Salon.

The guy who cuts all 4 of my men’s hair is straight, with an adorable wife and daughter. But he just might be the only straight man in the salon! Not that there is anything wrong with it, LOL.

"...they wallow in Angst in its various dark, adolescent forms: depression, bulimia, anorexia, self-destruction."

They sound like fun people to hang around!

Thanks for taking the time in explaining the term to me, its the first I've ever heard of it.

The stylist that cut my hair the best (when I could afford a hair cut) was a gay guy at a salon. Back then at least in my crowd, no one was in-your-face about it, but I could sort of tell. He cut hair really nice.

Since you are a practicing Jew then you should always protect your son and yourself from suspected sodomites.

The Torah is very clear what the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob thinks about them.

Don't look to FR for agreement. Look to God.

For the record, I look to God the Father - and am redeemed through His Son Jesus Christ.
