Coolidge understood Economics and Freedom. So did Cleveland and Reagan. The rest not so much.

Thanks for posting! If only we had more men like President Coolidge, who understand common sense and who pays for all the plans of politicians!

One big part of the problem was the insistence on using ever-increasingly-larger textbooks that were literally impossible to cover in a single school year (I know, I tried an experiment to see how long it would take — it took two years to cover one book). So you’d endlessly rehash the Pilgrims, and by the time you got up past the Civil War/Turn of the 20th Century, school year would be over. I thought it was absurd the fights over getting “new textbooks” that were updated, because if you couldn’t get through half the book, what was the point ?

“To tax the people more than is absolutely necessary is robbery.” That was one of Coolidge’s best quotes.

I read Coolidge's biography on Wikipedia; he was the antithesis of 0bama. His ancestors came here about 1630, when all they could expect was hard work, cold, and danger; no polygamous socialist Third Worlder students and antiAmerican hippies in his pedigree. He worked his way up through a long sequence of real jobs, including a successful private law practice. He rose to national prominence by fighting a public-employee union, while 0 is in bed with SEIU, AFSCME, NEA, and others. He was against unnecessary foreign alliances and the League of Nations, while 0 is obsessed with world opinion and the UN. Coolidge was for limited govt. and low taxes, while 0 is for completely unlimited govt. and taxation as massive wealth transfer.
