Happy Warm Fuzzy Wednesday, Meg.

You need a Warm Fuzzy Bear Hug. I don’t know if I would survive a 15degree night. A few years ago, we did have some temps drop into the low 20’s. It caused lots of freeze damage to our Valley Orange crops.

I know Marissa will not be as happy as I will be when Monday morning gets here. LOL Maybe I will be able to spend the mornings here after school starts. It may be tough getting up at 6:30 again, tho. I have been sleeping until about 8:00 every morning. Sure has been great.

Love your Polar Bear Hugs. Hugs back atcha.

God Loveth Adverbs
But we have the mind of Christ. —1 Corinthians 2:16

The Puritans wisely sought to connect all of life to its source in God, bringing the two worlds together rather than dividing them into sacred and secular. They had a saying, “God loveth adverbs; and careth not how good, but how well.” Adverbs describe verbs—our words of action and activity. The proverb implies that God cares more about the spirit in which we live than the concrete results.

Pleasing God doesn’t mean that we must busy ourselves with a new set of “spiritual” activities. As the Puritans said, whether cleaning house or preaching sermons, shoeing horses or translating the Bible, any human activity may constitute an offering to God.

We spend much time immersed in the mundane. “But we have the mind of Christ,” Paul reminds us (1 Cor. 2:16). That truth is to guide everything we do. Caring for an elderly parent. Cleaning up after a child. Sitting on a porch with a neighbor. Fielding a customer’s complaint. Filling out patient charts at a nurses’ station. Sitting in traffic. Sawing lumber. Reporting tips. Shopping for groceries.

We need faith and the mind of the Lord Jesus to recognize something of lasting value in even our most ordinary tasks.

In the common round of duty
Lift thy heart in praise;
For the Lord hath surely promised
Strength for all thy days. —Tovey

The world crowns success; God crowns faithfulness!

I just had a bowl of the 15 bean soup to “check out” the results..Yum..Here’s your recipe link with my comments, polly.

http://www.recipezaar.com/15-Bean-Soup-51803

Great tips and comments here. Thanks pollywog
Here’s this one with my modifications.
Ingredients
1 (1 lb) bag of regular 15 bean soup mix or cajun 15 bean soup mix

1 large onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced... mine calls for 2 ..I used powder for 4

1 (15-30 ounce) can whole tomatoes, crushed
I used 1 stewed and 1 diced
*3 stalks celery leaves, included chopped
(I added more tomatoes ....mine doesn’t call for celery but I know it would be good.)

(1 whole lemon ..juice of.. my recipe calls for... this one doesn’t)
I used half the lemon this time

2-3 ham hocks, with meat still on it or 1 ham bone, with meat still on it .
I subbed smoked sausage..I also added ham as I have it.about 1 pound
total. Last time I had a great ham bone.

1 tablespoon dried parsley
*1 teaspoon dried rosemary (crush with fingertips before adding this releases the flavor)
Instead Mine calls for chili powder..I subbed chili seasoning about 2 or 3 t.and 2 t cumin powder. It’s what I have.
1 teaspoon black pepper
salt
2 tablespoons olive oil (I don’t saute the onions or use ham hocks so I don’t use oil)
2 chicken bouillon cubes
My recipe doesn’t call for bouillon I’m trying 1 and a half cubes

Instead of using the quick method.,
I soaked beans overnight
drained..added 2 qts water...cooked as noted..I do not use flavor pack that comes with the beans.
I checked and stirred it every 20 minutes...
Great cold weather comfort food!
I have containers out to freeze individual portions..This is a lot of soup!

Ladies, every time I have fixed 15 bean soup, the color of the beans kinda melds into the broth, making it sorta purple colored. I wish the beans would retain their *own* color, instead of *sharing* with each other, and integrating into the broth.

Any hints?

Don’t guess I will ever get to that beach...LOL! But I have a very pretty necklace from Greece! My husband’s aunt and uncle visited Greece many years back and brought me a lovely necklace. I have a lot of jewelry but I do wear that necklace quite often. It is dark aqua irridescent (not sure of spelling and spell-check didn’t help me!)

Brrrr
Wind chill is at 8 now..I hate the wind as I must close the drapes on the sliding doors..not well insulated.
It is supposed to get down to 13 tomorrow night...and that’s too cold.

I am staying inside..and hope you do, too.

If I am going to beach dream..I like to dream of far away places.
;o)

It seems to me that the long summer vacation is fine because of planned activities.

Marissa has two weeks of swim lessons and we usually take a 9 - 10 day vacation. Then special visits with her little sisters and a couple of days visiting cousins. She is usually ready for school but she doesn’t get quite so bored.

If we had these extra 5 days at another time, it would be easier to get away for a couple of days.
