I don't care if this gets me banned. Those whalers are scum. They are the scum of the earth. And for FReepers who think they are God Almighty I implore you to go to Alaska during the Summer and take a boat ride to look at the humpback whales.

I am 99.9% against PETA and so forth but the Japanese are as barbaric as their ancestors in World War II.

I honk at cows and moo at them, but I still eat beef.

A whale is no different to a cow, just bigger. A lot bigger :)

Whalers are producing a product for which there is a demand for. Eco terrorists are piles of excrement.

I’m torn on this one. One the one hand, I think the Japanese ought to stop killing whales. There’s no “scientific” reason for the hunts. They’re just keeping whalers employed and the whaling companies afloat. Continuing the hunts is an economic decision and the US government, as a matter of public policy, should punish Japan economically as long as they keep this up. (We won’t. O’s too much of a wimp.)

But on the other hand, I really don’t mind seeing a bunch of greenie trustafarians lose their expensive toy; especially when they lost said toy by ramming it into the side of something solid.

They weren’t harvesting humpback whales, they were harvesting Minke whales, which aren’t even close to being a threatened species.

They got plenty of whales off the Oregon coast to the point of becoming a pest. Just ocean going buffalo that are a great food source. What other fisherman are barbaric in your book and should be unemployed?

I agree 100% with every word you said, Dengar01!

Anyone that thinks it is just a-ok for the Japanese to go out and slaughter whales has something bad wrong with them.

There are some conservatives that are almost as deranged as most all the liberals definitely are!

Whaling is... unnecessary. That's my biggest complaint about it. However, these people who go out there and fly the Jolly Roger (it was painted on the speedboat) pretty much get what they deserve for meddling in the affairs of others.

Have there been any large, well-funded PR campaigns in Japan that were aimed at turning public opinion against this practice? Seems like the methods that these Sea Shepherd boneheads are using are more likely to get people killed than they are to help keep whales safe. Some people just love that form of protest, though - like the anti-logging types who pound metal spikes into felled trees, hoping to shatter a saw chain or sawmill blade (and maybe dismember a logger). Same stuff.

I don’t think you should be banned... just get educated
and learn to think.

1. Whales that are not in danger of extinction can be harvested responsibly.

2. Whales are big. That doesn’t make them sacred.

3. Whales don’t sing. They make noise.

4. Anthropomorphism isn’t rationale.

5. Hunting whales is no more barbaric than hunting rabbits,
squirrels or deer. Are you also against all other forms of
hunting and fishing?

Your one argument is that we should go watch them. I am assuming
your point is that they are magnificent? So are deer.

best,
ampu

I live in AK and have seen plenty of them. Don't see what the big deal is.

I hunt and fish, am I also 'barbaric'? I like otters, but don't have a problem with people trapping river otters or natives harvesting sea otters, nor do I mind people buying their hides. I simply won't buy or wear it. Sheared beaver on the other hand...

You misunderstand.
it’s not about the issue of whaling. (Which frankly I don’t get)
It’s about these ecoterrorists.
You are soooo lucky.
I would LOVE to go see the Humpbacks.
Did you see the story about the “Killer” whales attacking a Grey Whale and her baby.
She kept getting between them and her baby.
And as the attack went on, the people watching finally realized she was moving closer and closer to shore (where the K-Whales would not go)
they finally left and she and her baby continued their journey.
Amazing.

The larger-displacement vessel has the right-of-way.

I advocate a similar rule on the streets and highways.

Call it the lug-nut-count right-of-way rule.

Whoever has the most lug nuts has the right-of-way.

Agreed 100%.

You are not alone.

And oh, they are violating international laws, surely that must be illegal somewhere. /s

If the Japanese ship hadn't turned away from the Ady Gil, it would have gone right over the Ady Gil's cabin and killed the crew. The Ady Gil was under power right into the collision. The person operating it was crazy and almost got his entire crew killed.

I agree bro. To hell with the eco-scum and to hell with the whalers. I wish all parties involved were sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
