You can differ all you want, but please tell us (who have these machines and don’t have this problem—and I live in Mildew Central here in S. FL) why you think we are wrong.

Yes closing the door when the washer is not in use causes mold to grow. What is there to differ when site after site and my users manual says that it does cause it? Also if you use regular detergent and don’t buy the HE detergent it is also a known cause of mold in them. I have had mine for 4 years with zero mold problems but then I followed the manufactuers directions for care.
