Hi, Kevkrom :)

Agree on your #4: This move up is more due to the others slipping than him improving all that much.

I liked your list - interesting....I decided to do one too

I won't be home to watch the show tonight I hope PAIGE GOES!!!!

1. Casey He looks like an American Idol to me
2. Aaron A close 2nd My Teen really likes him
3. Siobhan She's interesting/beautiful voice
4. Lee He's actually my favorite I'd buy his record
5. Katie She's amazing for a "kid" she has a future as a singer
6. Crystal I Just don't like her she looks like a mess I never liked Janis Joplin so that explains why I just don't like her
7. Tim I like him much more than Janis (above) but he's probably not going to go much further unless he improves
8. Michael He could be an entertainer on a cruise ship
9. Andrew I never really got all the hype about him
10. Didi She's inconsistent but good voice - I like her hope she can improve next week
11. Paige NEEDS TO GO ALREADY!!! She should've went before those other girls were voted off

Well, another mediocre night in a mediocre season. Not much to get excited about, not much to slit ones wrists over. One shining light, one unmitigated disaster, and a whole mess of MEH in between.

On a good note, however, Miley Cyrus was not the total train wreck I expected. She stayed within her little area of knowledge and did not try to put herself off as something more than she is. I thought her advice, while light, was pretty spot on to be honest. She didn’t sugar coat, and wasn’t afraid to make suggestions.

I still wish they would have stuck with TEEN IDOLS, as the prospect of much carnage, cheese and trainwrecks would have been off the chart.

Anyway, here are my ranking, not that there is much reason to rank this seasons steaming pile of whatever.

1. Crystal Bowersox – Me and Bobby McGee – Did the PINK arrangement of the song, and let’s face it, Crystal is in a totally different league than the rest of these performers. This was a virtuoso performance, and looked like the one star among a group of wannabees.

2. Michael Lynche – When A Man Loves a Woman – I thought this was an absolutely beautiful performance. Awesome? No. Earth-shattering? No. In front of a fire, chilled wine on the table, and your best lady next to you. HELL YES.

3. Siobhan Magnus – Superstition – First half, amazing. Second half, good, but I am with Simon, she did not need the gratuitous scream just before the end. The final note was awesome, but the SCREECH right before ruined an otherwise outstanding performance.

4. Casey James – The Power of Love – Personally, I think Casey just made himself a definite top 5 player with this performance. I thought it was a huge step forward for Casey. Still not sold on the power of his vocals, but the whole package of singing and guitar is working.

5. Lee Dewyze – The Letter – Much improvement for Lee. I thought this was his best performance to date, but still a lot of pitch and nerve issues. He is improving however, and could be the one that comes from the pack to make a top 3 or 4 run this season.

6. Katie Stevens –Big Girls Don’t Cry –This was Katie’s best performance by far, but it also highlighted the limitations in her voice. She has an amazingly beautiful sweet spot in her voice, but her range is almost non-existant. She is one of those middle of the pack that never breaks out contestants.

7. Andrew Garcia – I Heard it Through the Grapevine – This was not bad, but it was also not great. Just like Katie, Andrew did good, but also showcased the limitations of his range and voice.

8. Didi Benami – You’re No Good – I really wanted to love this performance. It had huge potential, and had some really wonderful spots, but in the end Didi’s nerves once again did her in. I love her voice, and am rooting for her, but much like Brooke White she needs to get a hold of her nerves.

9. Tim Urban – Crazy Little Thing Called Love – Ok I know this is ironic in its wording, but how can one totally emasculate Queen? Tim took a great song and turned it into a Boy Band ditty. Tim sang well, but just like last week totally missed the mark.

10. Aaron Kelly – I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing – Well if tim Emasculated Queen, Aaron took Aerosmith and turned them into a group of off-key nasally whiney little b*tches. This was a totally torturous disaster from note one. How anyone can like this whiney crybaby singing is beyond me. This was pure out and out rubbish.

11. Paige Miles – Against All Odds – I like Paige, and I think she has a beautiful voice. Unfortunately that voice is shot, and has no hopes of getting better as it needs rest. This was a complete total utter disaster. I hate it for her, but this was just horrible.

Should go – PAIGE. Her voice is toast.

Will go – PAIGE. Her voice is toast and she is too.

I must say this season of American Idol sucks big time. The majority of contestants are boring, been there - done that or they actually can’t sing very well.

I think it’ll be Crystal Bowersox who wins, although AI is rigged and the judges ALWAYS pimp the suckiest contestants (i.e. Lee DeWyze / Aaron Kelly). Meanwhile, contestants that are good, get totally dogged...(i.e., Andrew, Lacey).

Oh well, I realize those that get voted off earlier (and don’t win) end up doing better than those that actually win anyway. I’m just not liking that this season just seems to have a lot of filler, and pimping of contestants. It’s annoying. I’m glad I can DVR it, so I can just skip through and only hear them sing the songs (or not). ;)

Lee, and Blondilocks, the singing action figure with his feet nailed to the floor, were the dark horses or sleepers last night.

I used to think that Siobhan had a chance to beat JackBauersox, but maybe not: last night she again looked as moronic as a human being can look, especially in her Miley Mentor video, and she has patented the crescendo into Adam Lambert scream and made it predictable and BORING. I’ll give her one point for at least not wearing an actual RING in her nose last night.

JackBauersox, while from the judges’ comments still appears to be saving the world from caterwauling contestants, still needs work on connecting at all with her audience. You can’t make the big bucks if you are thinking during your performance about how you hate American Idol but how much you need the money.

Blondilocks reminds me of Jason Castro, so innocently appealing like a puppydog, and with occasional flashes of brilliant singing. Too bad Lee got the worst spot of the night. He was definitely fun to watch. Both of those guys are getting more comfortable, and growing.

Loved Andrew in Hollywood week, and kept wanting to give him one more week to prove himself again, but he has lost ALL of his appeal for me. He can go home, and he will (hope his gangbanging mom doesn’t take him out), but Paige and Bobby Sherman are so much worse, they had better go first.

Like your rankings.

Would like to see Siobhan/Crystal have to sing each others songs....

My bet is Siobhan can handle it, Crystal ( who is very very
good) would be challenged by some of Siobhans choices ( even without the high notes)

OK, I will put ‘em in my order too:

1) Siobhan - But just barely, and only because she puts power and interest into her singing. Did not like the Trademark, Insert Scream Here. Also fearing she has not enough intelligence to make it as a star.

2) Lee, because there was absolutely nothing wrong with his performance except some residual shyness or fear. He’s growing.

3) Casey. Once he can move around a tiny bit on the stage, he will be quite good at what he does.

4. Jackbauersox deserves to slip down to #4 because the only thing she’s got is natural singing ability, and comfort on stage. She appears to hate the audience and not care too much about the judges. I would never pay to hear her sing. She is coming off more arrogant than she should. She’s not THAT good. Janis Joplin lived and BREATHED that audience (along with a LOT of drugs and Southern Comfort).

5. I loved Big Mike’s rendition. He’s a little full of himself, but he’s genuinely good.

6. Didi, because although she was a little hammy, I believed her singing that song. She has something charming in her vocal tone.

7. Aaron Kelly. He sings them well. But he is not believable with any of the songs he’s chosen. At 16, calling home from the war to talk to his children? And last night, talking about wanting to stay awake and not miss a thing as his lover sleeps? Wasn’t it really because he didn’t want her father to come in and catch them together?? (You KNOW I wasn’t the only one thinking that, was I?)

8. Katie. Don’t like her at all for some reason - she seems phony. However, she annoyed me LESS than usual last night.

9. “Bobby Shurban” destroyed Queen and looked like a fool last night, using his bubblegum appeal, that he DOES NOT deserve, having the audience of girls swoon around him. I wish his sliding into 3rd base was going to send him home, but those idiot 13-year-olds will probably once more save his sorry butt. He can’t sing, has zero stage presence, but is developing confidence he did not in the least earn. He has been horrible every single week.

10. Going home has to be Paige. Something has happened to her voice, and she sounds like me up there singing. What a beautiful girl, though. Sad to see what has happened to her. She manages to always pick bad songs as well: Against All Odds? I think she is with all the odds tonight, and the odds are saying that she’s NOT going to “still be standing here.” I’d prefer her to stay, though, and send that creepy Urban home.

I hope Andrew goes.....and saves Paige in the process..she has actually sung well on occasion..he..never...It’s Bowersox’ to lose, IMHO...but she’s a quirky thing....may be had to controll..could be an interesting season..she rocked Joplin..I’d love to hear her do some Mary Chapin Carpenter...

I am sorry. Aaron is an amazing singer! He has an excellent voice! But he can’t pick a song yet whose lyrics are believable. Do you WANT to hear him sing about his post-coital moments with a woman?? Come on. Archuleta would NEVER have picked a song like that and you know it! Doesn’t this boy have parents?!

Also, what if one of the 16 year old girls sang about how she just slept with a guy? It’s unseemly.

I’d love to hear her do some Mary Chapin Carpenter...

Something different planned for next week. She's in it to win it. Used to smaller venues, like coffee houses, etc. Adjusting to new fame. Lives to sing and sings to live. That's the diff. No choice for her.

Not a pampered diva-type.

And excellence every single performance, and experience, and depth, all which inspire confidence.

Just curious, and only because you seem rather dismissive of Crystal, but have you ever been told "Oh, it's just because of natural talent?"

Excuse me, but a statement like that can only come from someone who has never made a living in the arts.

No, it’s not that. I had her in my mind as #1 for all the previous weeks, was thrilled with her every performance, was praying for her when she was sick.

The only reason she dropped down in my list this week was that the others I put ahead of her were definitely trying to improve, were using AI as the intensive seminar into the commercial music biz that it kind of is.

She came in with the package of natural ability and confidence in her ability. Some of the others are working on both or either of those. Because the judges want to help each one do their best, they had to find something to critique in her to help her. Even though the judges last night were thrilled beyond belief to have a non-karaoke act in Crystal, their critiques have been sprinkled for a few weeks with urging her to share more of herself with the audience.

Simon once thought her arrogant, seeming like she knew she had it all sewn up. Frankly, almost from his audition, Adam Lambert was a shoo-in for the win, but he never showed that HE thought he was. With Crystal, it could just be shyness. But there is a great chance she thinks AI is stupid and beneath her, but she really wants the money and exposure.

AI is a SHOW. We are the AUDIENCE. A majority of people will relate better to talent + emotional connection than to talent alone. It’s a good note for her to take. In my personal list I need her to take that note in order to get to my person top 3, LOL.

I feel completely opposite.

Everything about Adam screamed “I deserve and will get this”.
It is one of the things I hated most about him. Arrogance.

With Crystal, I feel a laid back easy style, coupled with a wonderful, likable natural talent.
