I’m having a real hard time “getting into” any of these contestants right now. The few I had high hopes for initially have been kind of coasting, and while I could compile a list of maybe the best 6 or 7 overall, it look like we’re going to have suffer through several weeks of dead wood purging.

The older contestants just seem to lack a consistent “it” factor”, the younger ones lack a sense of identity and either come across as sounding too old (Katie) or too young (Paige) for their age.

The few that have an actual sense of identity and/or star power seem to be too quirky to me to have staying power.

As a group, they just seem a’ight this year, no real stars emerging yet.

Yeah, my #6-10 overall (including those two) need to go soon, none of them are going to win this thing. At least one of those bottom five makes it into the Final 12. Blech. ;-)

Question...IIRC, in ALL previous AI seasons, they would rotate the order in which the judges offered their critiquesa after each performance, but this year, Randy always goes first, and Simon last. Why?..possibly so that Ellen can pick up something from Randy that she can parrot?
