Good evening, Friends.
I had planned to get back early to answer a few more pings.
The best laid plans .....
After the Parent/Teacher Conference, we came home
and I helped Marissa with homework.
She brought her reading grade up to an "A" but she is still failing math. :(
Starting this quarter, she is getting private tutoring in math.
I'm praying that will help.

I'm tired tonight so I'll say goodnight.
Thank you for coming by today with your graphics, music, recipes and CHOCOLATE! :)
Wishing everyone pleasant dreams and a restful sleep.
See you tomorrow.

Time For A Change
This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner. —Luke 7:39

A friend once told me, “In my lifetime I’ve seen a lot of things change, and I’ve been against them all!” Perhaps he overstated the point, but many of us would agree that we don’t like change—especially if it involves altering our habits and attitudes.

That’s one reason Jesus was so unpopular among the Pharisees. He challenged their long-established system of good works and self-righteous living. Consider the incident when the town “sinner” entered the home of the town “saint” in Luke 7. Simon the Pharisee wasn’t impressed with the woman’s lavish display of affection for Jesus. Reading Simon’s self-righteous thoughts, Jesus immediately challenged his flawed perception of his own goodness by telling the story of two debtors—one who owed much to his master and one who owed less. “Which of them will love him more?” Jesus asked (v.42). Obviously, the one who had been forgiven more. Speaking to Simon’s I-feel-pretty-good-about-myself attitude, Jesus said, “to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little” (v.47).

The challenge is clear. Lulled into thinking how good we are, our love for Jesus wanes because we have forgotten that we too are among the ones “forgiven much.” And when that happens, ready or not, it’s time for a change!

Forgive us, Lord, for failures past,
Then help us start anew
With strength and courage to obey
And closely follow You. —Sper

When God starts changing things, He usually begins with changing us.

What day is today?

Over breakfast one morning, a woman said to her husband, “I’ll bet you don't know what day this is.”

“Of course I do,” he answered as if he was offended, and left for the office.

At 10:00 a.m., the doorbell rang and when the woman opened the door, she was handed a box of a dozen long stemmed red roses. At 1:00 p.m., a foil-wrapped, two-pound box of her favorite chocolates was delivered. Later, a boutique delivered a designer dress.

The woman couldn't wait for her husband to come home.

“First the flowers, then the chocolates and then the dress!” she exclaimed.

“I've never had a more wonderful Groundhog Day in my life!

Your goodnight graphic is so pretty, Amy.

Good for Marissa getting an "A" in reading, and hope the Math tutor will be a big help in bringing that grade up, too.

Chocolate Groundhog Cupcakes

Using a baked chocolate cake:

Step 1:
Remove a piece of cake the width of an Almond Joy candy from the center of a baked cupcake(I decorated the groundhog before I put it in the cupcake). Set the candy upright in the hole, then spread a layer of white frosting on the cupcake.

Step 2:
For the groundhog’s eyes, trim the ends from a white jelly bean(I just used white frosting), stick them in place with frosting, then dot them with black decorators’ gel( I used the head of gingerbread decorations leftover from Christmas). Add a tiny triangle cut from a watermelon slice candy for a nose( I used a piece of red peppermint…again leftover from Christmas), brown M&M’s Minis for ears and cheeks, and a tiny rectangular piece of white jelly bean for teeth(again, just used frosting). Sprinkle chocolate cookie crumbs( I used crumbled cake from a ugly looking cupcake) around the partially emerged groundhog, and he’s ready to greet his fans.
