I have had the same experience Air Supply and Firefall. I’ve always liked Journey.

They are good songs but I can’t listen to them anymore. Heard them way too many times.

Pre-Frontiers Journey was always good for a rock song or two especially the years with Gregg Rolie.
But as for "corporate New Wave" like The Cars, The Police and U2, forget about it.
I am Dave Edmunds #1 fan but have plenty of time for the Cars et al. Much of today's power pop can trace its roots back to Ric Ocasek & co. (small wonder as he's producing these bands).

Never cared too much for Journey although their guitarist (Neil Schon) could play some hot licks and, IIRC, played with Santana before Journey.
Poco - a hugely underrated band and the forerunner of SoCal country rock i.e. Eagles (who I really despised when they went pop for the big bucks ~ "Hotel California").

Oh man, the Cars are great. I’ve heard their songs a million times but unlike Journey I’ve never gotten tired of them. A big part of their success was having a great guitar player (whose name I can’t remember). Same with the Police.

Elliot Easton and yes he was/is fantastic.

Now I got a reputation to uphold here so I started taking steps to ensure that nobody found out that I had Journey songs in my music collection.Uh ... your name is Jerry Johnson the Truck Driver and you just told internet users from Sandusky to Singapore that you think Journey songs make you girly and you are trying to hide it.

I agree. Ric Ocasek was pure genius. “Candy-O” is probably the Cars most perfect album, but I like all of them, even “Door to Door”.
