This morning I woke up with a Merle Haggard song in my head.

Are the good times really over for good lyrics.

***I wish a buck was still silver.

It was back when the country was strong.

Back before Elvis; before the Vietnam war came along.

Before The Beatles and “Yesterday”,

When a man could still work, and still would.

Is the best of the free life behind us now?

Are the good times really over for good?

Are we rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell?

With no kind of chance for the Flag or the Liberty bell.

Wish a Ford and a Chevy,

Could still last ten years, like they should.

Is the best of the free life behind us now?

Are the good times really over for good?

I wish coke was still cola,

And a joint was a bad place to be.

And it was back before NixonObama lied to us all on TV.

Before microwave ovens,

When a girl could still cook and still would.

Stop rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell.

Stand up for the Flag and let`s all ring the Liberty bell.

Let`s make a Ford and a Chevy,

Still last ten years, like they should.

The best of the free life is still yet to come,

The good times ain`t over for good.***

Yes. God is sovereign in what I'm going through. But, Rush wants to feature some stories of people who are negatively impacted by Caligula's actions. This is to counter all the sob stories the RATS inundate us with. Do you remember the old TV show Queen For A Day? The RATS have found all of the off-spring of those poor wretches and keep propping them up and using them.

Well, hubby and I have been negatively impacted by Caligula. That's the story I've shared with Rush. I won't say more now just in case he wants to use it.

The maid just left. The dogs have been fed. I'm going to close up shop and go to bed. See y'all when I have to get up.

love, love.

I am sure there are thousands and thousands of stories about how folks lives are impacted by O’s actions....most of them negatively.

I know that higher taxes caused by O-care will effect my life and my family’s also....my daughter, who lives with me..and shares the expenses...has been laid-off going on 5 months. Every day she looks for a job...no luck so far. She interviewed with a company yesterday that has a wage freeze (has had for 2 years)...so no matter how hard you work...no pay raises.

WE will get through this O-bot scare...because we have used common sense to govern our expenses and lives.

I am truly blessed to have a great family and friends.

Nice visiting with you all....this is the best thread on FreeRepublic. Prayers for all that need them.

Well, sleep tight. I hope Rush reads your story on the air.

There is one blessing in this huge snowstorm.....I can at least listen to the lead news story, which instead of the obscenely arrogant gloating Caligula getting his way, it is all about the snowstorm. By the time they start fawning and worshiping Caligula, I've heard the latest on the snowstorm and I hit 'off'.

At least we can start our day on a full tummy, THANKS lysie.

It is a shame, letting one each nut job, BamBam, ruin our days. Yet it goes further than this, he is ruining our country. Depressed? Sure am.

Obama and The Queen

Barack Obama met with the Queen of England. He asked her, “Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give to me?”

“Well,” said the Queen, “the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people.”

Obama frowned, then asked, “But how do I know the people around me are
really intelligent?”

The Queen took a sip of tea. “Oh, that’s easy, you just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle.” The Queen pushed a button on her intercom.

“Please send Gordon Brown in here, would you?”

Gordon Brown walked into the room and said, “Yes, my Queen?”

The Queen smiled and said, “Answer me this please, Gordon. Your mother and father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?”

Without pausing for a moment, Gordon Brown answered, “That would be me.”

“Yes! Very good,” said the Queen.

Obama went back home to ask Joe Biden, his vice presidential choice the
same question. “Joe, answer this for me. Your mother and your father
have a child. It’s not your brother and it’s not your sister. Who is
it?”

“I’m not sure,” said Biden. “Let me get back to you on that one.” He went to his advisors and asked every one, but none could give him an answer.

Finally, he ended up in the men’s room and recognized Colin Powell’s shoes in the next stall.

Biden asked Powell, “Colin, can you answer this for me? Your mother and father have a child and it’s not your brother or your sister. Who is it?”

Colin Powell yelled back, “That’s easy. It’s me!”

Biden smiled, and said, “Thanks!”

Then, he went back to speak with Obama. “Say, I did some research and I have the answer to that riddle. It is Colin Powell!”

Obama got up, stomped over to Biden, and angrily yelled into his face,
“No, you idiot! It’s Gordon Brown!”

I’m currently reading Karl Rove’s book, Courage and Consequence, and it’s very good.(P)I don’t want to race through it as if I were reading a novel, so I have not yet finished it.....(keeping up w/the current political scene and yard work have slowed me down. LOL)(P)Got any good titles for me that you are reading?

Very sad day in the lysie household. We had to put Elsa, our 12 year old German Shepherd, to sleep due to multiple health issues. She was the perfect pet!!

So so sorry Lysie. I have had to do that multiple times over the years and it still brings tears to my eyes when I think of some of them. I know you have a heavy heart. :(

HEAVEN’S DOGGY-DOOR

My best friend closed her eyes last night,
As her head was in my hand.
The Doctors said she was in pain,
And it was hard for her to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled her in my arms.
Were of her younger, puppy years,
And OH...her many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense “I love you gaze”,
Only a heart thats filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, “You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE’s installed a ‘doggy-door”!

Thank you, Geee.

We still have our two dogs, Terri and Duke and our two cats, Punkin and Jr., but after caring for Elsa it's hard not to think of her needs.

Being that D is helping out one of her friends today, I just got up, put some REAL CLOTHES on and went begging from my neighbors, got three packs of instant grits, came back to the house and dug in. Miz Jones, a widow woman, offered to fix them for me but I bowed out on the excuse the boys were waiting on me.

I also got up after eating and started cleaning my ‘shack in the back’, even moped the floor and dusted, sure needed that cleaning for sure.

Glad to see you back lady, I have been having ‘puter problems myself and SIL got on the problem and here I am, Found out it cat walking on the kepboard over and over.

Thibk I will hav a sweet tater for lunch today, D cooked me up several yesterday and know it will hit the spot.

I just came in from weeding, pruning, and hauling stuff around, and (as we say in the South), I'm plum wore out. Found out that I was out of shape for sure...had to take some breaks to rest up every now and then. Although I weigh 125 lbs., I'm gonna need to rearrange some of them. LOL

I did get my spring onions planted though, so I'm calling it a day's worth of work. The sunshine was glorious...so different from the cold, dark days not so long ago. There's more to do tomorrow....and it's a lot more fun than watching and hearing politicians lie on TV.
