Alright, everyone keeps saying that the BP deep-sea oil leak is under control, but a quick check of the live ROV feed on BP's website shows several clouds of oil still billowing out.
Here's a screen grab I took about half-an-hour ago:
Now, I'm no oil expert or big-wig politician, but that hardly looks "under control" to me---unless this is all part of the plan...
is not the theory that what yo are seeing is the kill mud?
Release date: 27 May 2010
“Top kill” operations continued over the night and are ongoing. There are no significant events to report at this time. BP will provide updates on progress as appropriate.

Looks like the pipe didn’t listen to Obama.
Well, it means something is flowing and it is not “plugged”.
It’s all the bullship O spewed at his presser.
No oil is flowing. What you are seeing now is mud only. When the stop the pumps nothing comes out of those vents until they start the pump again.
Correct - that’s the mud they’re pumping. Now they have to cement it.
Yeah, most of it is mud, but I keep seeing grayish-black plumes every once in a while. I keep missing the screen grabs of that.
It doesn’t mean its not plugged. They keep pumping mud until the pressure drops to 0 - then they pump cement and seal it permanently
Well - this claim is incorrect. That isn’t oil - it’s drilling mud. (Note the lighter color!). What I’ve read is that the process is still on-going, i.e. they don’t believe it is totally plugged yet, but rather that it’s not spewing oil any longer.
I’m hoping that they’ve reached a point where the weight of the mud has overcome the oil pressure, and that what you’re seeing is them continuing to poor in mud, and some of it escaping in the other direction.
The cap will only happen if they can poor concrete into the hole after the mud.
Keep on dropping dirt on it. Use the dense sticky stuff.
As opposed to a “who can fart loudest” contest, blowing mud here is a good thing.
Me too. Some people just look stupid, other speak and remove all doubt.
>> Now, I’m no oil expert
They plugged the hole with mud, so the image you are seeing could very well be mud. The fact that you have no idea what you’re talking about might’ve given you a hint that you should await more information from people that DO know what they’re talking about.

That looks like clay.
It’s part of the plan. Think of it as BP keeping pressure on the wound, with the clay instead of a pair of hands.
‘These will not provide a reliable indicator of the overall progress, or success or failure, of the top kill operation as a whole’
What does that mean? The oil may bust out somewhere else???
Thanks. I’ll try to get a screen grab of the grayish-black stuff that keeps popping up every once in a while so you see talking about.
Cheers
