While the rest of you were busy asking friends to join your gang in MafiaWars or doing whatever it is you're supposed to do in Farmville, a mother in California was busy using Facebook for a good reason -- to track down her two children who had been kidnapped 15 years earlier.
According to the Deputy District Attorney in San Berardnio, CA, the father of the two children -- one boy and one girl -- had gone missing with the children in 1995 when the kids were just 2 and 3 years old.
"The mother got on to Facebook and typed in one of the children’s names and hit a Facebook page," said the prosecutor.
Lo and behold, the girl she'd found was indeed her daughter. The two began communicating via Facebook, with the mom even sending an old photo of the family from before the kidnapping. And then suddenly, says the Deputy D.A., it all came to an end: "The teenager said, 'Not interested in a relationship. We just have a happy life. Leave us alone,'" and her daughter's Facebook page disappeared from the site.
Even so, the mom was able to convince the local authorities to investigate. Ultimately, they tracked down the missing children and their father to Orlando, where daddy dearest was arrested and charged with two counts of kidnapping, and two counts of violating child custody orders.

So it was the exhusband? The article doesn’t say she got the kids but I presume so. I wonder if the father made the daughter say she had no interest in a relationship and if the daughter will be happy with the mother or hold it against her that dad is now in jail. Very unhappy situation but I’m glad he was caught.
Knowing what the father’s faced 15 years ago in getting custody of their kids I have to wonder if this father didnt do the right thing.
Now he will have to pay for it, and if the mother is anywhere near what my son has to put up with he is probably prepared to do so.
Now if this were a mother hiding out from a father everyone would be all for the mother.
We dont know the circumstances, but I wont judge this man without knowing a lot more than this story tells. he sounds like a loving dad who got screwed by a court that favors women to me.
Bad deal all around. mother handled it wrong, daughter handled it wrong, and dad handled it wrong 15 years ago. I wouold suspect the mother was out for revenge and let that get in the way of a relationship with her daughter. The daughter picked up on that negative emotion and drove her mother away. Now everyone suffers. Dad’s in jail, kids are upset, mom still has nothing.
Way to go fools.
I will go out on a limb and try to read some minds here. dad knew what mother was like and that’s why he dissapppeard with the kids 15 years ago. the daughter learned the hard way what her dad was trying to protect her from. and now she must live with the guilt for the rest of her life. Dads life is ruined. Moms life is still no better. Nobody wins.
It could be that her father wrote that instead, in order to discourage the mother from contacting her daughter.
You are so jumping to the conclusions.
One really has to wonder... that girl obviously had no idea (and maybe didn’t want to have an idea) of the pain her mother suffered. Unbelievable!

You are really reading a lot into the story as it is written. You have no idea why the dad took off with the kids... and without some documented abuse or mental instability on the mother’s part, fathers (and mothers) can’t just go whisking away children from each other. It’s evil beyond belief.
I don’t think the mother handled it wrong at all.

Theres nother loving about kidnapping children and depriving them of a parent and putting them through who knows what ...
If she was an unfit parent it will be documentede...
If he was just mean and abusive to her, and an unfit husband, that will come out also...
Its a shame that most dads get screwed over by family courts around the country.....

the girl knew she was talking to her mother and kept up the communication for some time...
She didnt have to ...so the father may have been the one to pull the plug, knowing he would go to jail...

But then again, I have seen a lot of very bad court cases. Unless the mother is a crack whore married to a major drug dealer, the father is going to get screwed.

So why are you not complaining about the courts doing it on a routine and regular basis every day?
Are you also evil?
Just because the child kidnapping is done by the State, it doesn’t make it right.
Have you stood up to oppose the courts powers to authorize spousal and child support orders in excess of a persons income?
Have you stopped to wonder why despite the absolute powers of the State to garnish a parents income; to seize property and income tax refunds; that the alleged amounts of child support owed continues to sky rocket each year?
Could it possibly be because they State is being unreasonable and demanding amounts that are abusive?
Or do you just not give a (redacted).
you are so talking about your own situation not this one. These children were stolen away when they were 2 and 3 years old. They were babies. They haven’t had their mom all of these years because the father was selfish.
You don’t know the facts yet. He may have had a good visitation and custody, but that wasn’t good enough. He probably wanted to keep them away from his ex because he was bitter.
Now he can think about it while he is in jail.

Good point. It may me as you say. I wonder if this was the mother’s first attempt to locate the children, also.
Try not to insert your own information about what may/may not be happening with individual court cases into a newspaper article.
I know all about father bias, but you are making a huge stretch. I also know that most sexual abuse is by males. Statistical realities such as these should not be inferred on the minimal information given.
