Elon John Sings At Limbaugh’s Fourth Wedding Openly gay singer was reportedly paid $1 million to perform at event

Singer Elton John received a $1 million fee to perform in front of 400 guests celebrating radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh's fourth wedding Saturday night, People Magazine reports. Limbaugh, 59, wed Kathryn Rogers, 33, at the Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

Limbaugh is an outspoken opponent of gay marriage while John is openly gay and in a civil partnership with male partner David Furnish. Celebrity guests at the wedding reportedly included former Bush adviser Karl Rove, baseball slugger George Brett, former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and golfer Tom Watson.

According to People, the couple met six years ago, while Rogers was running a charity golftournament and Limbaugh was in the process of divorcing for the third time. The Palm Beach Post reported that as many as 50 private security guards were hired for the wedding.

Web site Gawker.com hired a plane to fly over the wedding site towing a banner that read "Rush: Congrats on your 4th marriage. XO, Gawker." The saying on the banner was chosen from suggestions made by readers. Rejected suggestions included "This time he really means it," "Wishing you months of bliss," and "Congrats on #4 from those of us who can't have 1."

Has anyone stopped to consider that Elton John and Rush Limbaugh might actually get along with one another in spite of their political differences?

I can't see why they wouldn't get along. Both men are Brilliant and articulate. both are very active with the respective charities they support, and I am willing to bet that Sir Elton gives a good portion of his fee to support AIDS research.

Years ago Rush was a Guest star on the show "Hearts afire" that starred John Ritter, Markie Post, and Billy Bob Thornton. By all accounts they got along famously. I recall that on the day after Ritter passed away that Rush was very complementary of him and his work and expressed genuine condolences to his family.

Anyone who even considers divorce and “remarriage” as an option is not a true conservative, but a liberal hypocrite.

I am a flying giraffe.

Yeah, can you believe that sign? What a bunch of jerks. Sounds trite to say, but conservatives wouldn’t do that. Only liberals would be that mean. It is a perfect microcosm of aggressive liberal mean-spiritedness.

>>> In the minds of liberals it’s somehow “hypocritical” to be against homo marriage while at the same time hiring a homo musician

You really think its only “liberals” carrying on like that? Read the prior Rush wedding threads. Lots here bleating the same idea. Left or right, both groups are full of crap. Professional musical services rendered for agreed upon compensation is a fair deal if the parties to the contract are satisfied. It’s got nothing to do with sexual preferences or politics.

That said, I wouldn’t want Elton for such a gig. That’s just a matter of musical preference, totally subjective. But if the Go-Gos were available, party on.

I always wondered who around here set the rules on what is and isn’t conservative. The conservative version of the Bureau of Weights and Measures, who tells we mere mortals what is an inch or a quart PRECISELY, and what isn’t. Mystery solved.

The answer lies within a lot of issues like the Mrs. wanting Elton and quite possibly the entertainment had to be someone whose music Rush was familiar with. He often says he can only discern the tunes he already knows with his implant. Music he is not familiar with comes to him as noise.

Conservative Weights & Measures still recognizes drams for weight and gills for volume. The unit for the heat capacity of air is the schumer.

Why would Rush hire and pay so extravagantly someone who probably hates him?

Easy, he's pu**y whipped.

Oh, I get it. There is no definition of conservatism. Instead, conservatism is whatever our little fingers are pointing at when we say the word "conservatism".

"No rules, man! No one's layin' their plastic conservatism trip on me! Conservatism's, like, different for everyone, man, and we can all do our own thing and grok our own conservatism, dig? This whole power-trip idea that words have specific meanings and that people who, like, swear to God that they'll stay in some heavy marriage scene 'til death do they part is, like, fascism, man, and it's totally harshing my buzz!"

Why does he want to do this to himself? Another Marriage and having to listen to the freak?

I always thought the B-52s would make a great wedding band. Rush seems to like 70s disco-funk. If it were up to him, I’d imagine he’d hire the Ohio Players or Earth Wind and Fire or something like that.

You could take it a step further. You ever hear the bumper music on these radio shows? Mark Levin’s themesong is some form of heavy metal. Contrast that to old William Buckley. His “Firing Line” theme was Bach (one of the Brandenburgs, as I recall.) I’ve always found it a little funny that conservative shows use such amoral music for their programs. But hey, that’s the slippery cultural slope, isn’t it?

“Real conservatives — the kind with real respect for marriage and family — don’t divorce and “remarry”.”

Yup. They do. You are incorrect.
