I agree, I will take all the prayers anyone is willing to offer. I just always liked the story about the guy on the roof, where God sends the boats and helicopter, etc. :)

Well, in hindsight, my Mom got bad advice as well. She was from a generation that was not proactive and trusted whatever her primary care physician told her. Had I been paying more attention I would have had her go to an oncologist right off, but I didn’t realize she had not gotten advice from one when they took the kidney out.
However, that’s water under the bridge. I did learn a lesson from it.

Heaps of prayers; salt and light on Mr. Hitchens. As he talks less may he write more insightfully.

I grew up during the time when surgeons were the only doctors that cured cancer. For the most part, that is still true. My mother called me one night saying that she was concerned about the lump in her breast, she said that the doctor told her not to worry about it but it had gotten bigger over the year that they had been watching it.

I had her set up with a surgeon within two days, she was in surgery the next day, unfortunately by that time there were multiple positive nodes.

Oncologists are fine and if you have lymphoma, leukemia or testicular cancer, they are the way to go but for the majority of cancers, only surgeons can cure it and only if they can get to it before it spreads. Oncologists can extend your life but usually at a cost of some pretty rough treatment.

It still makes me sad thinking that when she noticed her lump, there was a posibility she could have had curative surgery. And it makes me angry that we were probably cheated out of one more Christmas together by a pharmacist who was selling diluted chemo to pad his pockets. But, life goes on and I must focus on the future, not the past.

Sorry, that was probably too much information. Well have a good day, I’m going to get back to work.

"Lord! When did we see you.....???"

I'm reading/feeling the same thing, don-o -- Faith is one of the Charismatic gifts, not everyone receives it. The non-believer deserves our prayers in his time of need just as much as the believer, even more if you ask me.

Ease for Mr. Hitchens, all the best to him.

Well, I know my Mom is in a good place, and I know I will see her again, so that is a comfort. However, I also know that she should have been seen by someone other than the doctor who removed the kidney and said that he knew it had not spread (how could he know that when he turned out to be wrong and never sent her anywhere else for tests of any sort?). But, as you said, it’s the past. When it returned I made her go to MD Anderson and she was willing to go with very big guns (she would have been willing from the beginning and she had excellent insurance so that wasn’t an issue).
It’s just that people need to learn to be proactive and make sure they have all the information and not simply rely on one doctor’s opinion. That’s all I’m saying. But, none of us lives forever anyway. :)

Had the test, but you know the techs don’t say anything. Won’t know a thing til I see the doc next week. Don’t you always hate that? I know they mean well, but waiting is always a killer! :)

Aww......yes! I forgot about the long waiting brytlea. I haven’t been on for a few days and wasn’t thinking.

OK, that leaves more time for prayers and they DO work. Take care.

The pager-pinger isn’t working and I depended on it so much!

Thank you always for prayers, and I do believe in them. Lately I think God is trying to get me to just rely on Him. I am so very bad at that. Like a small child, I want to do it myself. Bad girl! :)

I’ve come to rely on prayer a lot more in my life now. It gives me comfort when I need it, as it will for you.
