I have known 2 people who have had it, one died (most unpleasant, sadly) the other survived and is healthy today. They can do amazing things today, but this is one cancer I would hate to be diagnosed with, along with pancreatic or colon.

“been advised by my physician that I must undergo a course of chemotherapy on my esophagus. This advice seems persuasive to me.”
Sorry to hear this. Hitchens is one of a vanishing breed, the honest leftist. They are all the more valuable because they are rare. I pray he recovers.
Yeah, this is a bad one (they all are, actually). They thought I might have it last spring, but more tests proved I was clean- or He removed it.
To prevent duplication, please do not alter the published title. Thanks.
Hitchens is a great writter...a great intellect, although dead wrong on some things...but, he has been on target with his criticisms of Clinton and Obama.
One of my all time favorite descriptions of Bill Clinton comes from Hitchens who said, “He is an apetite in a suit.”
Sorry
Hitchens is the most intellectually honest leftist I know of. For that reason, he has taken many conservative positions on Iraq, Iran, terrorism, and welfare policy.
I sense God is arranging him for a conversion.
I pray that Hitch can cast off his animosity and find it in himself to look at Jesus with an open heart and that God have the mercy to turn that heart from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh. Please Hitch, the game clock is running out and the consequences are eternal.
I’m happy for you, and agree, I don’t like the C word in any form. In fact, I go in for a test tomorrow, and hope they find nothing.
Prayers going up, whether or not Mr. Hitchens wants them. Esophageal cancer was the cause of death for a prior physician of mine. Yeah, even a doctor didn’t recognize the symptoms until it was too late.
I have always said that he would be an awesome Christian if God chose to convert him.
Maybe the Lord will find him?
By the way, I happen to think God judges us primarily on what we do in our life — how we treat others — how generous we are to those in need and so on. That we don’t worship at all or don’t worship according to someone’s set plan is not as important.
May God Our Righteousness reach into this situation and claim Christopher for Himself. Though Christopher may come through “as one comes through the fires” - may he submit to the only One Who can save his eternal soul. Use his brother (Peter) who knows you, Lord, to testify to your saving grace. Whatever it takes, Lord...I plead for the soul of this rebellious heart. Take this heart of stone & give him a heart of flesh...fit for the Kingdom of God and His Christ.
This, to the glory of God. Amen.
Eesh. That would suck.
Get well, Hitch, and may God be with you.
You got it! The man who works the hour at the end of the day gets the same reward as the man who worked all day. We might not always like that but God is merciful.
Yes, Hitchens is a religion-hater, not just a nonbeliever. To be fair to him, he hates Islam more.
