60% Dixie still left in me after two generations removed from the great South. The rest is pure Pacific Northwest.

Only 9% Dixie. I am a MA boy my whole life, Sigh.

But if the South rises again, I'll head down there and fight with y'all.

BTW, this is the first time I've seen one of these tests where you can get instant feedback on what each possible response indicates. I like that a lot -- very educational.

Beginning to look like we may have to rise again! But shucks, you don't have to wait for the South to rise again, you're welcome to come anytime:)

I got only a 46% Dixie. Makes sense. Though I was born and bred in VA, neither of my parents were born in the south. Dad was from Colorado and Mom was a navy brat. I picked up a lot of my vocabulary from them.

I was 41% Dixie. But then I'm from Florida and it's no secret that it was Yankee money that built this state. When I was growing up in St. Pete, it was mostly Yankee's who lived here. I remember, about age 10, going one Summer to my Mother's ancestral home place in Virginia, and some kids my age, whom I met, thought I was a Yankee cause, they said, I talked like one. I told them I was from deeper in the South than they were...but they probably didn't even know where Florida was.

62% I was an Army brat ... moved around a lot. Spent 10 years in the Military myself ... moved around a lot. Last 30 years working for various companies ... moved around a lot. I guess my HS years spent in SC never completely wore off. LOL!

I have a friend I talk about with this stuff all the time.

As a Long Islander, when I moved south it because obvious to me the LI accent was unique. For instance, I was told there were more vowel sounds in the LI accent than any other English accent. Also, there are several vowel sounds totally unique to the LI accent.

I did not know that out of the area people wait IN line, not ON line.

And I cannot tell you the abuse I have suffered at the CAAWFEE center in the church. :) Fuggetaboutit!

35% Dixie - I am definitely a Yankee. Surprised I got that much Dixie. Midwest and New England, less than a year working in North Carolina.

But we eat grits, biscuits, sausage gravy, hush puppies, and other southren chow - not that that makes us any less Yankee. At least I know the war of Northern Aggression isn't over!

Having grown up in Montana to southern parents I think I confused the heck out of it. It said I’m 46% dixie, but every answer seemed to be ‘Great Lakes’ or ‘everywhere but Great Lakes’.

-- every answer seemed to be "Great Lakes" or "everywhere but Great Lakes". --

I got a bunch of those "Great Lakes/Midwest" (makes sense, formative years on the east coast of Lake Michigan), and one "Only in Maine" (cold cut sandwich is an Italian). Heh. Been in Maine for 20+ years.
