CARLYN RAY MITCHELL The Gazette Six-year-old Meagan Garrow told her mom she didn’t want to see her face — severely damaged Monday when a pit bull attacked her — until she was 10.
But the girl took a peek at that swollen, stitched face through gaps of towels her mom, Genevieve Riedel, had put over the bathroom mirror at Memorial Hospital.
“I’m a monster, mommy,” Meagan said. “I look creepy.”
Coming to terms with her face is one of several challenges Meagan faces in the coming weeks.
Her life and appearance changed dramatically Monday afternoon when a neighbor’s pit bull ran out of its house and bit Meagan as she came through the front gate of her friend’s house on Dogwood Drive, where Meagan’s family also lives.

No one has any business owning a pit bull any more than they have a right to keep a lion as a pet. All pit bulls should be put down.
They should all be exterminated. They are not fit to be pets. A little girl here in Arizona, a couple of years ago in Snowflake, was killed by one.
I hate them, and my kid will not ever get near one, if I have anything to say about it.
Period.

I was once walking down a street in Leucadia, CA one evening and a pit bull charged me from the bed of a pick up truck. I admit, it scared the hell out of me. It stopped at the end of its chain but I know damned well the thing would have mauled me. The moron owner laughed and said she was “harmless.” I told the dolt that if I had had my sidearm on me it would have been dead. He didn’t think that was too funny.
Bingo. These dogs are bred to mindlessly attack, not protect. If you want a guard dog, shell out the cash to a reputable German Shepard breeder and pay for some training. Pit bulls offer just as reliable “protection” as a shot-gun trap or a land mine.
Just heartbreaking.
Terrible.
The little girl’s Dad should make sure the owner of the dog ends up with the same injuries caused by his dog.
Is Pit Bull a specific breed or a general term?

That action would not absolutely prevent what happened. The mother is trying to be gratious with this comment. For this case, the dog’s owner should be gratious by putting down the dog and burning the body on a pyre in his front yard.
Right. Dad should go maim the woman that owns the dog, because that’s going to make everything better. Too stupid for words.
If you don’t think the owner should face the music, YOU are too stupid for words.
