IMO, this article is right-on.

Maybe for some people, but I’ve found it a really valuable tool for keeping in touch with friends and family scattered all over the country.

I also only “friend” people I’m close to - I have no interest in boosting my numbers with a bunch of acquaintances.

This article is a laughable, generalizing crock of crap. My wife and I as well as many we work with, our adult kids, brothers, sisters and other friends are on FB. Of course none of us are 18-25 and we use it to keep up with each other at a distance. We are not insecure, or narcissistic nor do we have anything close to low self-esteem; we are all aware of our strengths and our limitations and we don’t need FB to boost or feed our egos. Also, with regard to another post that mentioned that we all have tattoos, yes, I have a tattoo of a Marine Corps eagle, globe and anchor with my name, my wife’s name (since we were both Marines) and the year we were married, 1972. FB is a communication tool that can be used well or abused but it is just one more medium for communication.
