This is true and I have witnessed one myself (1986 Hudson Valley UFO sightings). But what I have trouble with is the leap people make between unidentified and extraterrestrial. I do not see how one automatically follows the other.Because the object you saw may have been similar or identical to the ones people have reported seeing in the 1800s...
Today, it could be our own technology...But it certainly wasn't back then...
