Thanks for the suggestion. Who do I get in touch with regarding an antenna?...technologically challenged.
Looking at your profile page, you appear to be in metropolitan New York. Therefore the choices are vast. The FOX facility (WNYW) is actually on UHF which makes it easier to receive with a smaller indoor antenna.
Stores such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Frys have such antennas in stock, making them easier to return if it doesn't work out for you.
I've pinged a few of the friendly experts on the HDTV list who likely will offer suggestions. One specific brand that I've found workable is the AntennasDirect C2 from Best Buy. Just set it in a window facing toward Manhattan and attach the coax connector to your television. On the other hand, if you're situated at line-of-sight to the ESB, you might even find that attaching just a paper-clip to the antenna input of the TV might be sufficient to capture a usable signal.
Or you can go totally geek and get a big old Winegard like some of we over-the-air enthusiasts have done!
If you go that extreme route, I bear no responsibility whatsoever for the divorce that your wife is likely to file. :-)
right on! come on, Giants--Mess With Texas!
If Cliff Lee pitched all four games, it would be Rangers in 4. But since he isn’t, it will be Rangers in 5.
you're not describing Giants fans... most of them don't even come from San Fran...
Tons of information to be found here;
http://www.hdtvprimer.com/ISSUES/erecting_antenna.html
If you have been told that you may not erect a small outdoor TV antenna, that is probably wrong. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 has a provision that preempts (overrules) nearly all local restrictions such as deed restrictions, home-owners association rules, renters contracts, and so on. For more details see FCC Fact Sheet.
Late news: Note that now is not a good time to buy a Yagi antenna. Present Yagi antennas are optimized for channel 69. But in the U.S. 51 is now the highest channel, and a new generation of Yagi antennas cut for channel 51 will be the most desirable. For the next few years Yagi buyers must pay close attention to the frequency specs.
Many people live in areas where TV signals are strong. Even if these people know nothing about selecting or installing an antenna, they will probably succeed anyway. This website is written mainly for people in areas where reception is nontrivial to very difficult. A trip to the website www.antennaweb.org will tell you quickly into which group you fall. If your must-have stations are in the yellow or olive-green range then there is not much reason to study anything. (But if your present antenna is disappointing then read on.)
If you are not a do-it-yourself type, you can find an installer in the Yellow Pages under Antennas (or possibly Televisions Dealers & Services). The total cost (parts and labor) will range from $100 for an easy install to $800 for a difficult install, with $300 being the most typical bill. If you do it yourself, you will pay almost $200 just for the hardware. (Antenna: $70, amplifier: $70, 50 feet of RG-6: $30) You might be able to get some free advice or a free rough estimate over the phone or by visiting the installers shop. If he comes to your home, the estimate will not be free but it will be accurate.
There is a chance that the first antenna you install will not meet your expectations. Once an outdoor antenna has been installed, the seller will rarely take it back. Even Radio Shack will not take back an installed outdoor antenna. The cost of a second antenna might wipe out any savings you hoped for by doing it yourself. An installer will never charge you for two antennas if he is wrong on the first try. Generally, indoor antennas can be returned if in the original packaging.
Proceed at your own risk:
· Every year people get killed while erecting antennas.
· There are places within the stations broadcast radius where reception is not possible.
· There are places where reception is so difficult that the challenge might outwit the installer.
· Although the dollar cost of an antenna system is modest, a lot of your time might be required.
The author will not accept responsibility for any unexpected losses.

I am really keeping my expectations for the Rangers low. Call it cautious optimism, with emphasis on cautious.
Although past performance is not a predictor, I find it impossible to forget the weaufing going on during the 2006 NBA Finals with the Mavs up 2 games, leading with ~6 minutes to go in game 3 and the Miami fans booing their hometown team.
Likewise, TCU was favored to beat Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. SMU was supposed to win over UofH last weekend, too, and we see how that turned out.
We sports fans in the Metroplex have seen too many chokes (and note that I'm not even talking about the Cowboys who were predicted to win it all this year...at home for the SB) since the last championship -- 1999 with the Stars.
I really, really hope the Rangers win but I'm not going to start planning for the hugh World Serious parade...yet.
I’m THRILLED there is no yankee or red sox or chicago in the World Series this year. Anyone not living on the east coast has to put up with ESPN worshipping east coast teams and ignoring every other team ALL THE TIME. I could care less if ratings are horrible, in fact, I hope they are. It’ll be one more thing to shove in their faces. A Texas/San Francisco series is good for baseball, and great for all the fans of all the teams who never get mentioned by the elite sports media. One more thing, Chris Berman really really sucks! Rangers in 4!!!!! :-D
Stanz,
you should check this first. (Web site is safe for your street address and w/zip code, or just your street and zip code if you prefer.)

Jeez, remember when the Series was played in September, in the daylight, and people actually paid attention?
Go Senators!
Thank you for posting......
When I moved from IN to Dallas a few years ago I wanted to get behind one of the pro sports teams.....I lost my taste for pro basketball awhile ago, never have been a fan of the Cowboys so it looks like a picked a winner !!!!!!!!
Go Rangers !!!!!!!!
Many are saying they aren’t watching because the Skankees or Red Sux aren’t playing...anybody that ‘tunes out’ the Lee/Lincecum duel in the first game isn’t much of a baseball fan anyway...
Giants fans suck.
I’m a lifelong Dodgers fan.
We will never forget the way the so-called “fans” in S.F. threw things at our guys on the field.
Now, their pitchers are always throwing at batters.
Can’t be a coincidence. Giants play dirty.
And yes, my comment said the team is composed of weirdos and scuzzy freaks.
You weren't supposed to beat the Braves because some fairy godmother was going to spread pixie dust so a unicorn could carry Bobby Cox to the World Series in his final season. Seriously, though not a high-powered offense, the Giants' bats are still better than the punchless Braves', not to mention the Giants' superior starting pitching.
You weren't supposed to beat the Phillies, not so much because of Philadelphia's big three, but because of the Phillies' loaded lineup. What the Giants proved is that good pitching -- bullpen included -- beats good hitting. And that's why no one should be surprised if the Giants win the World Series.
As a baseball fan, I'm salivating over Lee vs. Lincecum in Game 1. It should be a terrific series, especially with the evil Yankees watching from home.
Oh, and if Buster Posey doesn't win Rookie of the Year, the NL should just do away with that award.
Well there's your problem!
Another life-long Dodgers fan.
I live 100 miles from the Giants ballpark and the only time I go over there is to watch the Dodgers kick butt.
Yes I am leery of the “Laura Miller Curse.”
I’m in total agreement on Chris Berman. Can’t stand McCarver, either. Although I don’t have a dog in this hunt (my Phillies were humiliated) GO RANGERS!!!!!!! Texans can handle San Francisco girlie-boys anytime...
