Are tea party supporters keeping Bristol Palin dancing?

Is there a vast right-wing conspiracy to keep Bristol Palin on "Dancing With the Stars"?

There is a popular theory on the Internet that Tea Party supporters are rallying to keep Sarah Palin's daughter on "DWTS."

This notion has been dismissed by Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas.

But because every thing connected to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin gets linked to activists, some "DWTS" fans think the call-in ballot box is being stuffed.

There is an organized Palin support group known as "Operation Bristol." It was started by nationally syndicated radio talk show host Tammy Bruce who urges Palin's conservative base to vote for Bristol. Other Palin action groups apparently have picked up the cause.

Also fueling the conspiracy theory is the fact that Bristol Palin has been one of the weakest dancers on the show.

She does have an appealing charm and she gets credit for trying. But many "DWTS" fans think Bristol should have been sent home before Audrina Patridge, Rick Fox and Kurt Warner.

Bristol has said in interviews that it is "ridiculous" to think that all of her mothers supporters are keeping her on the show.

A lot of bloggers who recap every "DWTS" episode feel Bristol Palin should have been voted off this week instead of former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner.

Warner turned in his best performance of the season and wowed the judges while poor Bristol stumbled her way through two dances.

She has improved since the season began but does she deserve to still be on the floor?

Bristol Palin has made it to the final four and will be competing against Disney star Kyle Massey, actress Jennifer Grey and singer Brandy.

The judges gave Bristol one point less than Kurt this week so it’s not a big deal that he ended up going home. Additionally, Bristol didn’t “stumble” through two dances. She did great on the first dance and had some issues on the second, along with her partner Mark.

I don’t vote for anyone on the show, I watch it with my family. However, members of my family have voted for Bristol and will continue to vote for Bristol because she is the only contestant without a performance background.

Tea Party supporters supporting a young woman who didn’t even bother to send in her absentee ballot because it takes too much time?

It doesn't really matter if that is happening or not. The Great Race, Idol , all those type of shows let you vote more than once and stuffing the vote box is common practice. When Cord McCoy and his brother, Bull Riders on Pro. Bull Riders tournament, were on Great Race, the PBR was telling all their followers to stuff the phone votes. They made it all the way to coming in second place. No one questions the fact that their PBR fans did it.And when Ty Murray was on D.W. theStars, (nine time worlds rodeo champion and Bull rider) the PBR did the same and he was on for a long time. Nothing to do with his dancing.

I vote for Bristol every chance I get, not because she is Sarah’s daughter, but because she is Sarah’s daughter my perception is that the judges are not...shall we say treating her with the same dignity and respect they give to some of the other dancers.

It's called "sending a message".

The media tells me that Sarah Palin is the worst mother in the world.
The media tells me that Bristol is an irresponsible, out of control teenager.

I'm saying I disagree, and that I like 'em just fine.
The message is being sent, and the media is hearing "vast rightwing conspiracy of violent racists." It's really kind of amazing.

My wife has watched this show religiously since the first episode and never once called in a vote. She told me last night that she called to vote for Bristol. She said she was one of the few “real” people she ever saw on the show ... no phony smile or theatrics, just plugging away at it, doing her best and no excuses. She said it like it was her own kid, very proud of her.

I wondered if she was kept in the hunt because she was Sarah’s kid or despite it. Funny world. There is something very unique about this kid though, undeniably. Character, I think. My wife loves her.

WASTE - OF - TIME

Shoot your TV.

Twice.

Hollywood HATES you.

They hate Sarah Palin.

They hate anybody that thinks like her.

They are exploiting her daughter for money.

They are making merchandise of you.

Any word on whether Tony George urged IndyCar fans to cast multiple votes for Helio Castroneves? I’m sure that could have accounted for at least a couple dozen more votes...

Agreed on all your points, although my kids and I did vote for Bristol a couple weeks ago. I never saw Audrina as a very compelling dancer, but I do think Kurt Warner was very good - and getting better.

But on Bristol’s success via tea partiers, you can’t tell me that Margaret Cho didn’t have big numbers of gay and lesbian followers voting. Every “star” has his or her own niche.

Quite frankly - as beautiful a dancer as Jennifer Grey is, I can’t stand her mental breakdowns and CRYING all the time. Half the reason I am pulling for Bristol is because she is drama free... she is holding it together and does not complain.

The Tea Party supporters that I know, myself being one of them, don't even watch that program!
