I am new to the world of MacBook and while I love it, I don't really like downloading my photos from my Nikon D60 with IPhoto. The process to be able to finish them in Photoshop is tedious (at least as far as I can tell--maybe there is a better way that I don't know about!). Or, maybe there is a better software.
I was working with Photoshop 7, so I am also having to learn the new things of CS5 too (altho I'm loving everything except the lack of lighting effects) so far.
But, I would really like to just forego Iphoto altogether and be able to just download my pictures directly into a folder and then photoshop them and not mess with Iphoto. Is there some way to do that? Thanks for any help. I am minimally techie, so please don't make too much fun of me. :)
I have no idea what you just said! :)
Sorry. I just meant that the form factor (shape and size) of the SD card, like what you probably have in your camera, does not conform to the one in mine. But there is an adapter that would allow me to use the Eye-Fi card in my camera. The Canon D20 is a DSLR, like the older 35mm film types with interchangeable lenses. It is what they call a Prosumer model. Like those used by pro’s but geared for a higher end photography consumer.
Gotcha!
Plug the camera into the USB port and the Mac will recognize the external device. You can then download your photos into a folder and process them however you like. Your Nikon should have basic software that is Mac compatible, there is a basic suite that comes with the computer, there’s Photoshop, all manner of image editing software.
It’s certainly easier than on a PC.
tech ping.
Once you've got your camera plugged in, it's basically just a thumb drive. You can browse your camera card like it's a folder.
Not quite as simple as that, but problem as been solved further upthread.
Thank you tho. :)
Thank you, problem is solved.
Actually, it is as simple as that. An icon for the external device should have popped up for you when you plugged the camera into the USB port. No special software is necessary, just treat it like any drive or memory device, click the icon to access it.
Well, it didn’t pop up. I would have noticed.
If you are talking about the "lighting effects" filter, it should be under Filters>Render>Lighting Effects, if it is where it was in CS3.
It’s not there. I googled, and apparently they decided not to put it in. There was a big forum discussion about it, and now I can’t recall exactly what they said. You can still use it if you run it at 32 instead of 64 or something. It’s not he end of the world, I only used it on occasion, but I’m not sure why they would dump it.
However, it does some other things I really like and i still have 7 on my PC laptop so if I just HAD to have it for something I could still do it. I’m still getting used to the ins and outs, it’s quite a jump up from 7.
