'Diet or die,' world’s fattest woman is warned after hitting FIFTY STONE

* Mother of one, 49, urgently needs brain scan but is too big for an MRI machine * Bedbound for last three years after doctor changed medication

A woman believed to be the world's fattest at 50 stone (700lbs) is facing a battle to shed weight after being told by doctors she could die.

Terri Smith is confined to her bedroom in her Ohio home unable to move, stand or roll over by herself.

Suffering from severe headaches which doctors fear could stem from a brain problem, Terri urgently needs a brain scan - but is too big to fit inside an MRI machine.

To undergo the scan and receive the life-saving treatment she may require, Terri is now embarking on a weight loss regime of exercise and healthy eating.

She relies on her husband Myron, 44, and oldest daughter Najah, 30, to do everything for her.

The 49-year-old must be washed, fed and dressed on the bed and wears nappies which her daughter and husband change.

'My husband is my guardian angel,' said Terri.

'He's stuck by me through everything. Most men would have left a long time ago and who could blame them but Myron is a living saint.'

Terri was always large - at age seven she weighed almost eight stone (112lbs).

'My nickname at school was fatso,' she said. 'No one wanted me on their sports team and that didn't help the fat.

'We grew up on soul food and no one thought anything about it.

Take her to their local zoo, many have scanners there for larger animals. Not kidding they could do this if the zoo is equipped with one.

One has to wonder how in the world a person gets to that point. However—we all have something or somethings that one has to wonder how we allowed to get to the point it has. On the other hand- I have to wonder what diet and exercise will do at this point. Hopefully over the long haul she can get more healthy.

Whenever I see a story like this, I think about the fact that at some point this person became too fat to get up and get food, so from that point on, someone is enabling him or her.

'My husband is my guardian angel,' said Terri.

I wonder at what point he became an enabler. Someone is bringing her food, and lots of it.

Where were these doctors when she was 400 lbs?? 500?? 600??

And her family should be ashamed of themselves for enabling her slow suicide.

If she relies on her husband and daughter for “everything”, then THEY are at fault for her size for providing her with too much food/too much junk! If she dies they should be charged with contributing to her death, IMO! >:-(

Husband? A 49-year-old 700 lb woman who needs to be “washed” and have her “nappies” changed has a husband?

Maybe she has a great personality.

I was thinking the same thing. Reminds me of something Glenn Beck said of people this overweight “You want the cupcake, then get up off the couch and get the cupcake!”

In sickness and in health were the marriage vows. He is a good man.

There is a lesson in this article somewhere abotu the current welfare programs.

I don’t think the hubby should be charged, he isn’t force feeding her lie a fois gras goose. She has free will, her descision to be that way and her descision to change that.

You should read the comments on the article page, a lot of liberals in there whining about how this woman is a waste of space. Those same libs saying they should ban her from eating are the same ones saying that it is a woman’s right to have an aboprtion, but holding a fork is different for some reason...?????

My thought is how do they even know how much she weighs. The zoo or a livestock sales-ring is the only way she could be weighed. Don’t they have portable MRIs?

If she can’t move, stop feeding her, or give her nothing but sustenance, 500 calories (mostly protein) once a day. Rig up a weight machine over the bed that will allow her to workout her arms and legs.
