Regarding That "Two-Dollar Bill" Ad,Claiming That They Are Worth Thirty Dollars? Are They Serious?
Posted on 01/06/2011 1:13:58 PM PST by JohnThune2012
By now most of us have this seen laughable "New Two Dollar Bill" commercial by now. When watching this ad,you can't help by say,You Can't Be Serious!, How can a two-dollar bill retail for $30.00,But If You Act Now It's only $10.00.Plain And Simple! IT'S A TWO DOLLAR BILL! It's worth TWO DOLLARS! Will They Ever Stop Trying To Sell Us Non-Monetary Money? As if someday it will all make us rich if we buy now? This bill is supposed to be U.S. Currency, and if so,why is this Two Dollar Bill A Steal For Only Ten Dollars?(Plus Shipping&Handling).

It’s worth whatever they can convince you to pay for it.

Will They Ever Stop Trying To Sell Us Non-Monetary Money? Isn't the fed trying to do this with QE II?
I'm waiting for them to come up with a $3.00 bill with Hussein's mug on it and a picture of the Kenyan flag on the reverse.

Does it come with a “certificate of authenticity”?
Never buy a two dollar bill without one. /sarc

Personally. I think the ad for the “metric hammer” in Parade was far worse. They sold a ton of them.
To: JohnThune2012
They are worth $2.00. They would probably be worth MORE if they weren’t defaced, since some people collect them.

Some people will try to sell anything because someone will buy it. I remember TV commercials selling “Obama” coins that ended up being a 50 cent peice with a photo of Obama taped on. Montel Williams was hawking those.

I saw a print ad for those. They are marvelously hideous! They are first cousins to Monopoly money. Someone actually thought this is a good idea. The mindset is fascinating. I would love to know how many they have sold. If it works, I’m going to get a bunch of $1s, paint them with water colors and sell them on eBay for $20 each. BTW, isn’t this defacing money?

How about the non-monetary coins plated with 14 milligrams of 0.99999 pure gold. Even at current gold prices that almost 50¢ of gold.

That's my thought too. I'm thinking this is a federal offense.

Actually, yes. It’s defacing money - which I thought was illegal.
I was in my local post office the other day and asked them if they wanted a 2 dollar bill, since I had several of them in my wallet. They said “no.” :-)
