Who's got it and what do you think of it? What is there in the way of competition?

Great service. Today for instance: I had a movie in my queue that wasn’t available from the facility that normally sends out our movies, so they ordered it from another facility.

But so not to hold us up, they also sent us the next one in our queue, so we received two movies in the mail today, even though we’re signed up for the one at a time plan.

If there is ever a problem with a movie, scratch, etc...you just report it online, and before they receive the returned movie, they’ve already sent out a replacement.

We love the online unlimited watching. Especially old TV series. Plus my husband’s addicted to MI5 (which is why we joined Netflix in the first place so he could watch previous seasons)...and now they have some of the seasons on the watch instantly side.

We never go to the theater anymore, use a movie rental store like Blockbuster, or use pay per view. Saves lots of money.

"I was astonished at the speed with which the dvd’s were delivered, because at the time I lived way out in the desert."

They're fast here too. My mail man picks the discs up at 3 p.m. and the next morning, I've got an email from Netflix telling me they've received them. New discs are out in the mail to me that day, so turnaround is really quick for me.

My brother has it. He loves it. Watches what he wants to, not what some network is offering. Or shoving down your throat.

He uses a Playstation to connect, but they have DVD players that have wifi built in, but they have to have Netflix installed.

There are a number of other internet apps available, too, built into the players. I see TV’s now have the same capabilities. Facebook, Pandora radio, on and on.

I’m on a promo deal with the cable company. When that ends and they double the bill, I’m probably going to get a converter box for the local over the air channels and go with a Netflix account.

Wife and I dumped cable for DirectTv because of cost. Recently, we took it a step further and dumped Satellite for Netflix for $8/mo. Just added Hulu Plus for $9/mo. For $17/mo we get more TV than we know what to do with, plus DVDs shipped to our house regularly.

We are never going back unless the price structure changes dramatically (which it may).

Oh, despite me loving Netflix, be prepared to be initially disappointed with some of the streaming movie choices. It’s not uber-fantastic.

Once you get past that, you realize it is good enough when coupled with the DVDs being shipped to your house.

BTW - their turnaround time on shipping is beyond fast.

In the spring of 2010, I signed up for the 2-DVD + unlimited streaming for $14.99 (was $13.99 until January 2011), and I got the Roku box for streaming.

Great service, considering the price and increasing number of titles available.

I watch Netflix more than regular TV.

And, NO COMMERCIALS.

I average between 8 and 10 DVDs per month (takes about 3 business days for each turn-around), and probably 20+ hours a week of streaming.

Same for us, we have a two day turn around. I put a movie in our mailbox on Monday, they send me an email early AM on Tuesday saying they’ve received it, and then Tuesday afternoon we get a “sent” email...and receive the next movie on Wednesday. Can’t beat that.

Netflix = Mainly Movies $8.00 a month
Hulu = Mainly TV Shows $9.00 a month

You can watch a lot of movies instantly with both services to your TV, Computer,iPhone, iPad, etc....

You can dump your Cable/Satellite company, and get these two for $17 a month.

On top of that several companies sell a device for your TV. For instance, TIVO and APPLE are just two. You buy a box (one time deal when you buy a box) per TV. Then you connect your box to your WIFI in your house. It will give you access to the entire web. For instance, youtube and many other sites video sites. You can download all this stuff to your TV here.

I have seen some neighbors with it. It’s awesome and probably a reason so many people are dropping their cable and Dish.

Just an FYI about youtube I read the other day. Over 35 hours of video is uploaded every minute on youtube. That’s crazy if you think about it. I have found a lot of movies on youtube alone. If you enlarge a picture, or subscribe (always free and you can unsubscribe when done watching) videos will not stop after 10 to 15 minutes. They will run whatever time they are. There are a lot of great movies on the web. You just have to look for them. Very few I have not found. At any rate, it will save you a lot of money.

Good luck!

I have both a Xbox360 console and a Wii console. Does anyone out there know if there is any difference in the video quality between the two consoles using Netflix?

Same here - we got rid of satellite and usually only watch Netflix or ESPN online.

One fun thing for us is my kids and watching older cartoons like Inspector Gadget, Bugs Bunny, Pink Panther, and others, and not having to watch the garbage kid shows out now.

Who the hell is Carl Dangerfield and why should I care what movies he wants me to watch?

but the streaming selection isn’t as large.

They just added over 600 new streaming titles Monday.

Love it. I travel for a living, and watch all my videos of movies and tv shows online on my laptop. There streaming thing is brilliant...it adjusts itself to even the slow crappy hotel wireless, so movies and tv shows never rebuffer. I have never done the mail thing, though I hear its good...just used to watching everything on my laptop, or I connect the laptop to the hotel tv

Aye, I wanted Woodrow Wilson: American Experience. (2 DVD set)

It wasn’t in our local availability selection, they sent us n extra DVD from our list whilst we waited for Woodrow Wilson.

Then one disc came cracked, 2 days and we had the replacement.

Simple click of a link—select problem and it was resolved without fuss or time. LOVE Netflix! Love them! Great business!

I had that feeling at one point, but when I started searching for movies in the ‘Watch Instantly’ drop down menu list, by category. I found a lot of good content I didn’t know they had. Recently, I just found a bunch of Charley Chan movies have been added to their streaming content...always thought Charlie was cool... ;)

mame - put me down as loving it! First loved it for access to oldies and generous return time - kind of feel restricted with getting only two at a time but no biggie. Now can get the instant access so am spoiled - and have heard all will be instant play in the near future...
highly recommend (even if the CEO is a commie pinko) because the stuff on TV is crap...enjoy!

Supposedly xbox upgrades the image quality of non blue ray DVDs. I don’t know if it also upgrades the internet streaming video too.

I love Netflix. I stream it through my PS3s. I had it a couple of months before I really got used to it. For me, ordering Blu-rays is nice but secondary to streaming TV shows which is what I primarily use it for.

I'm moving soon and plan on getting only the bare-bones cable hooked up (if that) as I pretty much only watch TV shows through Netflix and rent movies from Redbox. I'm already hearing chatter that 2011 will be for cable TV what 2001 was for the music industry --the year the party ended.

I have had it long enough now that I have watched about everything I want to so am now watching those old 1950’s sci fi movies I liked at the theaters. Many of them are bad and I mean that in a bad way. Some are extremely good, for instance I just watched “Forbidden Planet” a few nights ago and I would travel all that distance to get to play with the professor’s daughter.

Have you noticed all professors have beautiful daughters in these shows?

Also watched the entire two year series of “The Invaders” it has held up pretty well with a couple of edpisode exceptions.
