Things are heating up in Texas, and numerous bills to curtail illegals are introduced. Among these a bill to mandate that anyone taking the test for a TX driver's license do so ONLY in English. Predictably, advocates for illegals such as Rep. Eddie Rodriguez, whine about it being "intolerant", but then he steps WAY over the line, trying to tie it to the shooting of Gabby Giffords by suggesting "divisive rhetoric" could lead to violence. Disgraceful.

Punta......
I guess he’s worried that the Latinos will get violent if they pass this bill.
For the children...
And he might well be telling the truth ~
I AM a liberal and I support English only. Not for racist, biased or hostile reasons but for pure and simple safety reasons. Street signs are written in English. Traffic tickets are written in English. If you are in an accident or given a ticket, the officers will be speaking English. If you must go to court for a traffic issue everyone will be speaking English. Can you imagine a police officer trying to sort out the details of a traffic accident if the driver cannot explain in English what happened? Street signs often have symbols, but what about construction signs? “Lane change ahead” “Right lane closed, merge left” “Speed limit reduced up ahead” “Bridge freezes before road”
In my opinion, this is about safety and NOTHING else. Driving requires more than just “driving”. You must understand and be able to respond to certain things, including signs.

I wandered down to my local Firearms store this week, to look for some more odds and ends that always seem to be needed...
I stood and watched while two men, a younger man, about 25 or so, and an older man of around 50 at the counter.
The younger was asking to buy a rifle, the older male was going to be paying for it, or so it was claimed.
The store has some ranging from 800 through 4,000 dollars.
This young male translated the whole transaction to the older male, and 4k plus costs was slapped on the table in cold hard cash.
It was obvious to me that the rifle was for the older male, it was his cash and he was asking the questions on how it worked, how it was broken down for field cleaning, he was the ONLY one to hold and get the feel of the rifle.
The BS of the older male just fronting the cash for the young male, (who actually said right at the end the elder was his “uncle” ) was finally closed and in the bucket for me when the clerk put it all together, boxed, and handed the completed sale out to the young male.
The older male instantly grabbed the box like it was the last straw (pun intended) and headed out the door without so much as a word.
The younger male in passing Me and seeing my face and expression of raised eyebrows, gave me the attitude BS of indignation that i should even look in his direction and followed the now vanishing older male out down the street.
I voiced to the clerk that I felt that the whole story line he had just been given was BS and how could he have not taken this as a straw purchase.
He refused to answer me, in fact, turned to his boss telling him he was going to the restroom and vanished out the back.
At that point in time I realized that My asking questions was not going to get me any sort of reply.... I left, went and spent 1k in a store an hour away, and shall not return to their dump again.
They are armed, as we are, it is my opinion, it is for my mental safety that I understand if I am armed, so are they, as are all who can legally purchase firearms (that was a barf alert) and there is no doubt in my mind those who may have a social or cultural propensity to become over emotional and hysterical and plummet into a mob mentality at the drop of a hat already have their own SHTF plans...

Since the road signs, directional signs, etc. are all in English, it follows that ....
What does language have to do with race? I agree however with your stance on English. Consider that a currency is a country’s language and ours is printed in English. So is The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights, there isn’t any ‘’’press one for English/press two for Spanish’’ on those. And lastly, all the wars America fought from our own Revolution to today were fought and won speaking English.
