Why America is growing tired of Palin
CNN ^ | 21 January 2011 | Gloria Borger

Posted on 01/21/2011 4:10:24 AM PST by Erik Latranyi

Washington (CNN) -- OK, you've got Palin fatigue. Not to worry. So does much of the country: The latest CNN poll shows that 56 percent of Americans view her unfavorably.

More damaging, though, is this: Sarah Palin's unfavorable rating among women has gone up 10 points. And 59 percent of those all-important independent voters don't like her -- and that's up a stunning 14 points in just a few months.

You might argue it's because of the debate surrounding the Tucson shootings -- specifically, Palin's tone-deaf response to the unfair charges that she was somehow responsible for a deranged shooter's state of mind. And that could well be part of it. But there's more: She's completely overstayed her welcome.

“and none of the conservatives kids love her.”

An endorsement in itself.

My views of who and who doesn't support Palin are based ENTIRELY on a) polling (which no one here likes if it doesn't comport to their world view, and which I admit can be badly flawed at times . . . but which was right in 2006 and 2008)

Still hugging push polls 22 months before an election, aye?

Wrong jackass. We’re tired of the abuse you and your colleges relentlessly inflict on the lady.

I can't wait until Sarah is our president, and she will be, by a landslide.

I can hardly wait until the election cycle starts, and hopefully Sarah throws her hat into the ring.

Once that happens, the dynamic which will flow between then and the general election will truly be a thing to behold.

It will be an all-out bare-knuckle WAR between Socialism on the one side and Liberty and Limited Government on the other side (unless the nominee is someone like Romney, of course, in which case Socialism will automatically win.)

I for one, hope for all-out political WAR, furiously waged between those who would choose Socialism, versus those who would choose Freedom.

If you look back to the 2008 elections, the indies didn’t go for Palin because they didn’t think she was ready to be VP.

...and the indies went for OBAMA at the TOP of the Democrat ticket because HE was ready to be President??? LOL!

Um, McCain was the top of the GOP ticket. He was the drag. Historically, the VP nominee has VERY little influence on the overall outcome of the general election.

For those two reasons, your assertion is marginal, at best.

With Bush in the rearview mirror and Obama in the driver's seat with his masterful collectivist propaganda, his election was inevitable.

Indeed, it is only when there is a weak or retiring GOP incumbent that Democrats ever win a Presidential election in the modern era...

Maybe they just detest her policies and image because it's the opposite of their own.

But they don't attack her policies. They primarily attack her personally. When they attack her policies, they attack conservatism, and that usually doesn't work too well.

Actually, IMHO, neither tactic will work against Sarah in the long run...

We should stop worrying about who CAN win and start worrying about who SHOULD win.

Two years out from the general election, I have to agree fully with that sentiment. Which is why I firmly believe that rumors of Sarah's political death are greatly exaggerated.

And it begs the question: why are so many so willing to believe such patently obvious attempts at manipulation? Why pay ANY attention to media hype which is solely intended to engineer a scenario where they (the media) determine who CAN win?

All before the first primary has occurred? Screw them.

My daughter is a conservative. Grad as of 2007 and fully supported Mrs. Palin in the last Prez election. There are actually many young people who are conservatives.

Supply a couple of polls that suggest Palin can beat Obama

I've seen a couple such, right here on FR. And if you analyze things electorally, as opposed to some mythical and misleading "popular vote" poll 2 years out, you can begin to see that Sarah winning is eminently feasible.

Indeed, rather than finding such polls discouraging, I believe any polls which show Palin anywhere close to Obama are absolutely amazing, given the current free-for-all environment of character assassination against her. At some point, her detractors are going to have to move beyond personal attacks, because Sarah can and will win people over with ideas. In fact, that's what I think the Left fears most. just like they did with Reagan.

One things for sure, if Sarah runs, her critics will have to become less and less dismissive, out of sheer necessity. She will finally have to be taken seriously whether anybody likes it or not.

So, you can't supply any. That was my point. Whether or not you accept polls "two years out," as best I can tell there are none that show Palin anywhere close. A few months ago, she was only losing by 2-3 in most polls, but more recently---which is the point of this thread---she has lost support with the so-called independents.

Once again, I'm not debating the efficacy of polls. What I would like is for people to accept that as of now there are no polls that I can find showing her beating Zero. Please, show me some.

“Hugging?” Try reading any poll. Please, I’ve asked anyone here: post any poll showing Palin beating Zero. Heck, I’d be very happy with one showing her 2-3 points down. The last time I saw any poll with her in that range was more than a year ago, and the point of this thread is that she appears to be losing women and independents. So, provide some evidence please.

"endorsement?"

Or "information?" Some people reject information when it doesn't fit their world view. We call them Global Warming Alarmists.

How is asking you to produce evidence “blocking” your free speech? This sounds much like Mr. Olbermann.

I'm disappointed in you LS.

Someone with your credentials should have better reading comprehension skills.

You are spinning off the charts fella.

I’m not rejecting the information that in your experience “conservative” college kids don’t love Palin.

I just find it to be more of the same old same old. I’m OK with them not loving her. It fits my world view perfectly.

Separating real conservatives from those with a transient definition of what conservative means is one of the benefits of having Palin on our National stage.

LOL. I ask you for a poll-—any poll-—showing Palin anywhere close to Obama, which you can’t or won’t produce . . . and I’m spinning off the charts. I’ll ask again, other than your “gut,” what actual evidence do you have that the numerous polls constantly dismissed here are wrong?

Well, I’d hardly call them “transient.” For example, you’re talking about people involved in YAF, who tend to be the most conservative of kids; many go to schools such as Liberty, GMU, Grove City, and Hillsdale. Some of them include people like Jason Mattera, author of “Obama Zombies,” or the two that blew the whistle on ACORN. I’m not saying they in particular do or don’t like Palin, I’m just saying this is the level of college students that I routinely interact with, and their experiences can hardly be blown off as having “transient definitions” of conservatism. Most of them, while not as articulate as someone like Rush, have pretty well developed concepts of conservatism.

I guess you are right

After all no conservative college students like her

Polls are that accurate too.

I think I have made my position clear and you have decided that Palin's popularity is in the tank.
