While were on the subject, has anyone here actually managed to read Atlas Shrugged cover-to-cover? A couple times, and a musical, it ain't.

A couple times, and a musical, it ain't. John Galt's speech would no doubt be much improved by adding choreography, though.

Oh DEAR GOD...
the lack of humanity that the single most influential book second only to the Bible be reduced to a musical.
This is the book that has changed and clarified my conservative principles more than ANY other piece of writing I've ever read. Other than almost anything on FR, of course.

Yes. Many of us read Atlas Shrugged together for the FReepr book club discussion of it.

I actually like the idea of a musical treatment. It may just jump start a story with an annoying habit of droning on and on by repeating itself.

Yes, I actually slogged through every friggen word of it. Ergo my approval of a musical treatment.

A musical? Absolutely not. I have read most of Ayn's works. Her unyielding defense of unbridled capitalism has never been matched. Having escaped Russia when young, she saw first hand the evils of the Socialist Hell our Marxist leader would like to impose.
Capitalism, the Unknown Ideal is one of her works everyone should read.

Read “Anthem”. It is the same underlying theme as “Atlas Shrugged”, but only about 100 pages.

Looks like I will only see the first two parts.
To: winstonwolf33
Well I was looking forward to starting the "trilogy" but if the 3rd part is going to be made a musical...ferrrgettt it!
To: winstonwolf33
But you know, part three could be a musical . . . like a Les Miserables Springtime For Hitler kind of a musical,
knuckleheads....

Rock version of Halley’s 5th concerto.
To: Brett66
And John Galt’s speech could be done by a mime.
