You can show your receipt. Or, through higher prices, you can subsidize all the shoplifting that will occur when Walmart is not allowed to check receipts.

You didn't read the article, did you? THEY'RE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REQUIRE YOU TO SHOW A RECEIPT AFTER YOU'VE PAID FOR AN ITEM. IT'S STATE LAW! We even have that law here in Kalifornia. The moment you pay for the item, the store loses all interest in that item and cannot make you prove ownership. They can (try) to detain you if they saw that you picked up the item and started walking out the door with it, and try to hold you for the police, but without proof of a crime THEY CANNOT DETAIN YOU! I do this all the time, except at club stores (Sam's, Costco) since that's part of your membership agreement.

I submit that they are not violating State law at all.

The door checkers are not looking at your receipt to verify again that you have paid for legitimate merchandise. They are doing a quick count to see if you may have additional items that have not been paid for. The door checker does not attempt to match stock numbers one-for-one with the actual items in your possession. They are looking for potential theft.
