I don’t really understand why anyone except someone who’s seriously disfigured would get facial plastic surgery. Even when it’s done correctly, it never looks that good and the risks of something going wrong just seem too high.

Leisz admitted to having multiple other procedures before going to Dr. Parker, but said she may be able to correct the problem but she’s afraid to go under the knife.

How many "multiple other procedures"? And just now she's afraid to go under the knife. How many times have these procedures gone wrong. She played the odds and lost. Sorry, but she should have left well enough alone.

I had LASIK performed in Turkey. When they blade started to slice my cornea, I let out a yelp. The doc stopped, spoke to his assistance, and then apologized to me. Told me they forgot to put the numbing drops in, and since he already began cutting, couldn’t stop. You can imagine how bad that hurt.

“This is a woman who had 10 or more plastic surgeries. She certainly knew there were risks. The extremely modest judgment shows that the jury thought Dr. Parker was competent, too.”

She kept rolling the dice. Pretty soon - she had to know - that she would come up with snake-eyes (pardon the pun)

I think $115,000 is very generous. I’d given her something. But not that much.

What was the outcome? I have complications from Lasik. They have lifted and scraped my eyes eight additional times. Just call me one eyed Jack.

Bloomingdale woman awarded $115,000 in eyelid malpractice suit

A jury awarded a Bloomingdale woman $115,000 Wednesday in her medical malpractice suit against a Paramus surgeon who performed cosmetic surgery that left her unable to shut her eyes or blink.

It was a mixed decision, as jurors found that Dr. Paul Parker did deviate from the accepted standard of care in performing the surgery – called a blepharoplasty – on Marilyn Leisz’s eyelids and that this caused her injury. The panel, however, rejected Leisz’s other civil allegation that she was not fully advised as to the risk of incomplete eye closure as a possible consequence that comes with undergoing a blepharoplasty.
