A flock of ten flamingoes have met a brutal end at a zoo in Eskilstuna in eastern Sweden after a curious anteater broke into their compound and clawed them to death, leaving a further five birds nursing injuries.

My Got! Sion is stuck in Groundhog Day!

Hoo-raw, hoo-ray, I escaped it! I am back in Paris now, but on a stopover from Germany, on my way home to arrive Sunday. Touching down in Seattle soon after Mass ends.

A busy time in Saarbrücken, a city that not even the Germans attending had seen before. It may be in the industrial Ruhr valley, but what I saw was very pleasant with some very old and well-maintained churches and other buildings. Culture, what little I saw, seemed a pleasant mix of German and French; not the same but it reminded me a lot of southern Germany (Bavaria and Schwabia -- I love what I have seen of the latter).

Tonight (it's drawing to midnight) I am in a budget hotel in downtown Paris, close to the Opera. "Budget" in Paris means $150/night -- not quite up to the level of the $40/night Motel 6 in Kingman AZ I visited in January, but it's a very long walk from that Motel 6 to the Eiffel Tower, the Arc d'Triomphe, Notre Dame and everything else in Paris.

Unlike the Motel 6 there's no A/C here, so the windows are open despite street (party) noise -- on a Friday night. But it's not so bad; our hotel in Cairo was worse with the windows closed!

Nice to hear you’re still in the State of Survival, and best wishes for your flights back to the State of Moss, Mold and Mildew.

Anoreth wonders if anyone in your church would like to buy her truck. (She’d cut the price as a Gesture, I’m sure.) I’ll FReepmail you the details on it later.

I’m sure it sounds amazing.

Just getting catpipes into tune is amazing.

And then your visit to the Emergency Room ... AMAZING!

Sally’s trying to get Ash to go for a walk, but White Cat is out on the sidewalk, griping at Other White Cat, and Ash is skeered.

Thanks! Not too worried about the flight, so long as I can get to the airport. Train strike in Paris today cut off airport access (Charles De Gaulle apt) which is why I am in town tonight. Things supposed to run tomorrow, but my first task is to get to CDG and check in at the hotel there. Once that is done I can come back and tour.

Thanks only to Nurse Grace!

But it's nearly midnight and I am tired. (If only the Parisians were too.) So I'm off until the morning my time. Bye...

Gotta love those Europeans and their solution to labor problems.

Seems the Europeans had answers to queries we didn’t even ask!

When I was there (Germany) and “living on the Economy,” I was welcomed and educated in the ways of Germanic life and traditions. I would love to go back...

What unit? A corporate drone is at the bottom of the AI list. I suspect even the Basilisk has more senority...Correct me if I’m wrong. ;o]

Believe me, right now it feels like everybody has more seniority then I do...

Why do Mega-Corps feel it is their duty to buy ridiculously expensive and complicated programs and "centralize" things that were being handled just fine before?

And why do they ask for your input when they KNOW they are going to ignore it?

And they why do they blame the faults in their system on the employees not being sufficiently committed?

:sigh:

At least I am still employed for the moment. Several other people are not.

What? What?? Are you logged in? GZZZZZT!

How long has it been since you attended a good, old-fashioned human sacrifice? Too long, you say? Well ...

Been there. Done that.
Agonized over what input I could give (when asked) and realized my paranoia was well-founded.
They won. (They think.)
When raise time came round, I got an “A” in “Keeping Equipment clean and in good working order,” but for the next 10 items, I ranked lower than whale doo-doo.
Therefore, I was expendable, even though I was asked several times to tutor other CSRs who were less computer savvy than I was.
And I always had to work weekends, which were the heaviest times. WHY? Because I was good at what I did. They just didn’t like me. Idiots.

Hang tough, honey.

"And why do they ask for your input when they KNOW they are going to ignore it?"

Because they want you to feel involved.

You need to study the Dilbert Chronicles more. They explain everything.

I have lost way too much sleep over this. The job switch is now complete although how long it will be before I am made redundant again is anyone’s guess.

The children seem to be trying to kill each other, accidentally. I’m glad it’s almost bedtime.
