Police said a would-be carjacker was beaten and left lying in an Orlando parking lot when he picked on the wrong victim Saturday afternoon.
Lt. Arnold Alvarez said a witness called police about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, reporting that a man was approached by the suspect in a lot near Millenia Boulevard and West Oak Ridge Road.
The suspect, later identified as 54-year-old Richard J. McCandles, demanded that the driver hand over his keys, police said.
But investigators said McCandles made one critical mistake — he selected a target who was bigger than him.
After beating McCandles up, the driver got into his car and drove off, Alvarez said. Officers said they arrived to find the McCandles lying on the ground.

I was going to say trying to play the tough guy when he was 54. I'll bet a lot of guys smaller than him could've kicked his old butt all over the parking lot.
Would have been better if he ran him over as well.

If only every bully and thief/thug story ended this way.
No, the guy would have gone to the hospital and the taxpayer would have had to pay his med bills. The trick is to beat them up and inflict lots of pain, but not do any real damage that requires a lot of medical care.

What’s REALLY sad is that this guy would have been jailed in England, for resisting a bad guy. He probably would have been jailed for a long time, since he used more force than was likely needed to neutralize the guy. And, no doubt, it would have been a hate crime had the bad guy been from an ‘ethnic’ group.
Would have gone to the morgue if he ran over his head.
If you're a licensed concealed carrier, the law in FL is such that you can plug anyone who threatens you. So if he lives, it's the perp that's charged.
