VACAVILLE, Calif. (CBS13) A CHP officer assigned to the California Capitol was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal from a Target store, authorities said.
The Vacaville Police Department said Shawn Hammonds intended to steal electronics equipment from the Vacaville retailer on Monday, but was pulled over a few miles away in a business park.
Hammonds has been an officer assigned to the Capitol for about 5 years, according to authorities. Nobody answered the door when CBS13 visited Hammonds last known address.
The CHP said Hammonds has not officially been put on leave yet but has not reported to work since his arrest Monday. He has been charged with burglary.

Cops make the best crooks.
Burglary — not shoplifting. How’d he bust into the Venture store?
oops, target not venture
Peyer was so ironic because the CHP put him with all the news crews to show the danger of that stretch of I15 BEFORE they suspected him of the crime. And then continued for a few days after.

NO WAY that Jon and Ponch ever would have pulled this type of thing.
Oh, wait!.....you said BURGLARY.....................
LOL! Of course, there had to be a car wreck scene. One of those old, 70’s station wagons seemed to be very popular.
Sort of like Chet99 was with pit bull articles.
