I remember first hearing the Gere/Gerbil story in the 80’s. Where did this originate? I always thought that maybe he pissed off some Hollywood producer or something who might have started this rumor to ruin him.

Wasn’t it when he was married to Cindy Crawford and he was at some Hollyweird Award show in which he wanted every to communally “think” about Tibet, all at the same time? And then the TV panned off of him ASAP?
I realistically (I thought) expected Obama to perform in the bottom ten out of our 44 presidents, ending up in the bottom five if he had eight years and refused to learn from his mistakes. A fair assessment today is that he is second from the bottom, just above James Buchanan, and trying hard to take first place from the man who mishandled the start of the Civil War so terribly. I will be thrilled and surprised if Obama comes out of our White House as only the second worst occupant of that great house, but either way I don’t think he belongs on the list with our 43 presidents.
