In my opinion this site is much less active than it was in the early days.

During the Clinton era, this site was a major thorn in the Clinton's butt. We were taking out full page ads during the early days of impeachment. We did stuff to combat what we were seeing. In hindsight the Clinton's weren't that bad, in comparison.

Should we be doing more?

Free Republic is an incredible site. Best on the Web.

It's simple, clean, uncomplicated format beats anything out there.

But where it really shines is the people who frequent here. I have never seen so many intelligent and insightful people gathered in one place before. Is and has always been that way.

One change I've noticed over the years is a greater number of liberal threads and less conservative ones. If fact, almost any dumb thing a liberal says gets reported here as if it was news. I don't pay attention to the lamestream media in any form, and yet, I hear all their stupid crap here. Used to be a site for better picking up conservative viewpoints and discussions. As an example, look at all the Weiner posts. That's not worthy news in the world we live in today. It deserves a mention and is good for a few laughs but other than that it's drivel.

Free Republic, like all things in life, follows the 80-20 rule. Twenty percent of the folks always do 80 percent of the work. Here, the 20 percent who make this such a superior site, are truly incredible. The eighty percent who take up most of the space, aren't worth the time.

One of the good things about this place is that you do get to fight about your opinions and beliefs. It's not a place for the timid. But it's a great place to cure sloppy thinking.

Even here, though, there is no cure for stupid. Best thing to do is if you find yourself arguing with a fool, is to make sure he isn't doing the same thing.

We all need better education in many areas and you can learn a lot here. Sometimes you have to realize that your position is indefensible, your presentation is inaccurate and your mouth is exposing how little you know. And a few freepers are overly generous in exposing your weakness. And it hurts. And it pisses you off.

So what. It's all just words. Even in the really big battles here, no one dies.

Free Republic is a hoot. And though I have not made any friends here, I have encountered many that I look up to and enjoy. Actually, Free Republic itself is my friend. And until I finally get booted off, will remain so.

And you, like the others on that post did not read my comments, or you think it is a great thing to anonymously sell your guns to criminals at a gun show, which then will be used as the excuse to shut down all gun shows.

You are much more polite and decent than the others. But still nothing about knowingly selling your personal guns obvious gang members at gun shows - something you would not do out of your home or office.

Please don't bother to respond. This is what I am talking about.

Sure we lost a lot of talent, but we also lost a lot of out and out crazy ones. Remember Snowbunny? Ash?

I was at the rally & dinner for the 13 house managers. Did the opening invocation. Met So many people that day. The biggest thrill for me was meeting Henry Hyde, after Jim Rob of course.

Since ‘98 my access sequence has been Drudge, check for earthquakes then camp out on FR. This site isn’t just politics.

People here are more interesting than on the so called intellectual sites.

Oh my gosh...what a flash from the past. I really don’t know if I could have survived it all without FR.

The way to beat the left is to be more in-their-face and a bit less dignified

I was thinking about that when I saw a headline that told of SEIU members were registering people whose homes had been foreclosed. Made me realize that the radical left is always out there working, registering voters, setting up fraud, attacking conservatives, whatever they can think of to beat us, and we sit here and talk to each other. Until the Tea Party gets out and starts working again, we are going to continue to fall behind again. We're letting the Congress go back to a "do nothing" mode.

I wasn’t arund back in the beginning.I don’t think I found this place until sometime after 9/11 and then spent a few years just reading without commenting.I love it here it lets me know that that there are other people who feel the same way that I do about the way our country is being decimated by the powers that be.

Yes, that shuttle re-entry event was one of the things that convinced me that FR had something that no other site on the web has. We have at least 300,000 reporters. That guy, I think, was in AZ or NM and had a telescope as I recall. It was 11 minutes before NASA said a word. Then there was the guy in Jerusalem who heard one of the bus bombs explode close to his apartment and ran out to see what it was. He reported back to us. the news didn’t report it for some time after that. I think that is where we have it over everybody. We can all be reporters. (Now if I can only get a post to work...)

"When she announces FR will be ROCKIN’!"

You betcha!!

I kinda feel we're just marking time until then. Can't get too excited about Bachmann, Cain, or any of the others as long as there's a chance that Sarah's going to jump in with both feet!! The day she announces she'll catapult over Romney and all the other wannabes. FR will be ROCKIN!!

Oh dear, don’t even begin to talk about all the folks we loved who passed away. It’s like losing a member of your family. I’ll never get over the death of my spiritual “Sistah” LadyX.
