I remember how you (you specfically) could always provide a song here (midi file) but I don’t think you can do that any more (have music play when you first open a link). I hope you are doing well, and I agree with everything you say about FR.

It works now better than ever and lots of FReepers are using the technique. They just don't link to "midi" files now. They "link" to anything they can think of. lol

I made that same post with the same music on the 2nd Quarter FReepaThon 2001. EVERYBODY went "nuts" over it. I couldn't believe it. It's so simple to do and yet nobody ever thought to do it before then.
After all, it's only a simple line of html code. That line of code can be used to link to another thread or site as well as a midi, wav, mp3 file. Whatever. It is most commonly used these days on the FRepaThons to link to the donations page. Go Ahead: Click It!


A couple of minor changes and you get this:

I don't even remember how many people I sent that line of code to and/or instructed them how to use it to make their own posts.
Man O Man, That brings back memories. It doesn't seem it 10 years ago but it was Go Ahead: Click It!

I am so conflicted by GWB that I cannot express it. On the one hand, he stood and delivered when it came to the war on terror, stood and called it what it was “The War on Terror” in capital letters and was a far superior patriot than what we are now blessed with.

On the other hand, he was a bit naive; seeming only to want to see the good in others (which is a good trait most times, but the old adage to be wise as a serpent, as harmless as a dove is also wisdom in some quarters). Before he was elected, he took pride with how he had “reached across the aisle and worked with the opposition” which at the time sounded good, but he went too far in that game in my opinion.

When the “opposition” kept on spouting lies; there were times he needed to DEFEND himself. The fact that he didn’t in the least at times made him appear to not be living in reality, and didn’t seem a normal reaction. - You’re right. He should have cleaned house when he came in; the liberals would have squawked, but they squawked anyway. Nothing less than the truth now will suffice. Now, Obama is STILL seeking to pin everything on “Bush”, and that has at this late date become preposterous.

Yes, she was a Marine and much more. She was a survivor of a kidney disease that was considered fatal. They gave her six months to live. That was twenty years before she finally succumbed. She was a fighter and the most spiritual woman I’ve ever met. She was 100% positive about all things. A joy be be around and full of wisdom. The absolute bestest Sistah a girl ever had. We were both Southern girls who were raised pretty much the same way. We were/are the same age and our memories were the same. We both moved a lot and saw many of the same places. So much in common. She was the best friend I ever had next to my husband. You should go read some of her old posts. Always filled with positive wisdom.

I would beg to differ. I would submit that the left publicly declared war on America when Reagan nominated Bork to the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the internet then, or talk radio, or any ‘new media.’ All we had were the alphabets/WaPo/NYT and legacy media. Cable existed but wasn’t as common in households as it is today.

I’ve got a few years on me, and had never seen anything like what the left did to, and got away with against Bork. It was done with help from a few Republicans, including the worm John Warner who was then my Senator.(after 1987 and until his retirement, during Warner’s reelection bids I always wrote in “Robert Bork”)

The behavior was so outrageous, it even led to a new term, “Borking,” as in trashing and vilifying political opponents by any and all means possible. The country has never been the same since.

Almost every graphic I post is linked in some way. Even the little "smiley face" has a link to a wav file Go Ahead: Click It!

Copy and save that basic snippet of code to a notepad and save it for future use. Or for reference, whatever.....



Okay, now you'll ask how I made the < and the > appear. Well, that's easy to:
I did it like this: Use &lt; to get the < and use the &gt; to get the >

So, how did I get it to do that. Easy again Go Ahead: Click It!

Like this: &:amp:lt; to get &lt: which gets this <

So now there you have it. lol

If one goes to dictionary.com and enters "Bork" as a word search, one gets:

–verb (used with object)
to attack (a candidate or public figure) systematically, especially in the media.

The attack on Robert Bork was intense that it introduced a new word(concept) to our language. The left did the same thing to George Bush(43) but he didn't resist. Now the left is doing it again to Sarah Palin. You'd think that the sheep would catch on and ignore them. But no, the sheep just keep following along.

If you're being attacked so much that you have to voice a beef about it, I'd say that you're probably off the reservation, and that the community is letting you know that.

I am sure your are correct to a point, however personal attacks in place of reasoned debate is what I am talking about. I really haven't been attacked much here, but that particular thread really suprised me.

What is getting under my skin lately is the 'RINO police.' Everyone is a RINO: DeMint, West, Bachmann... offer a name and someone throws the RINO card.

I agree. It's a divide and conquer stratagy and some people fall into the trap. Now, if someone has valid reasons why some of these people shouldn't get our support, I would like to hear them. Not just that they are a RINO.

I hate to say it, but there probably will not be a perfect conservative candidate. IMHO, 4 more years of the Obominaton will totally destroy this country as we have known it. Therefore, ANY conservative is better than BHO.

JimRob insists he will continue to go begging each quarter instead of commericalizing the site- I thought wil LOVED capitalism around here?

I think this should be a multi-million dollar site (bigger than salon.com and huffington post comnbined)

But he insists he does not want to ‘sell out’ (to “the man” or something..) by taking money. I don’t know why they have to be mutually exclusive

He should be a millionaire for having the genius to create this site.

The left/media are really one hateful, vicious crowd. When you think of it, even before Bork, their prototype was James Watt. Recall how his use of the word “cripple” led to a media frenzy and ultimately his resignation. Once that worked for him, they carried it several steps further with Bork.

We’ve come a long way since then with the ‘new media’ but too many remain dependent on and, worse, believe, the legacy media.
