Just how I see things. Thanks for pointing me to the memorial page - it’s a fantastic thing and we do well to remember those great people.
I was on free republic during the 2000 election. Free Republic was the only place on the web at the time that reported Florida was still in play even after bunghole Rather prematurely called it for AlGore.

What a pleasure reading all the the preceeding 240+ posts. I do not remember when I first came on FR. It was sometime during the mid 90’s. I do remember commenting about abortion and someone said something about “Where did you come from?”
It has always been a joy being a Freeper. My involvement has been low key for the most part. No personal friendships but lots of friends. I finally decided to start using my own name to get myself past the curtain of an avatar name. I was, most recently, Amos the Prophet. Can not remember before that.
This site has been a source of content and sanity through some difficult times. I am most thankful for the blessing of being part of FR.

FR is my “morning newspaper”. I wake up an hour earlier each day to see what I’ve missed while sleeping and having my morning coffee.
When I get home, I hop on again to see what I’ve missed through out my work day.
My days off, well, I probably spend most of my time on FR...I know, total loserville. I’m fine with that.
But FR is the only place to get a “full” story. FReepers have to post anywhere from 3-6 different reports, on the same story, to get an almost “full picture”.
I like this format and hope it doesn’t change.

I couldn’t agree more. I want Sarah to run as much as any other FReeper, but what if she doesn’t? I am ready to get to work now. I think waiting much longer to get behind a declared candidate is going to give Romney the nomination. The longer we sit around waiting, the more it will appear to the moderates that we aren’t excited about this election and don’t care who they nominate.
We need to be making phone calls in the early primary and caucus states very soon. Super Tuesday is February 7th. McCain clinched the nomination on March 4th, 2008. Super Tuesday helped him do that. We have to convince those in the Super Tuesday states that Romney is not good for the party. To do that, we have to give them a conservative alternative.
We need a candidate by the end of the summer, IMHO.

Yes, it was delightful to watch the mainly slime media eating all sorts of crow about not finding a single dirty trick among her private correspondence. They had to admit that Gov. Palin is a decent, hard-working patriot.

You are applying your nostalgia where you wish to, would you have it that we do nothing? I am certain that we had a lot to do with Clinton’s impeachment and Gores eventual defeat.
I believe 30 seconds spots that are well made can have the most effect.Using Alinsky’s suggestion about ridiculing your opponent would work very well. He is so vulnerable when the facts get in the way. Choose the facts to share carefully and hammer away with wit and the truth! Ridicule him into submission.

You're certain about that? The Russians and Red Chinese are more conservative than the dems. I won't be voting for any of them either.

Unlike you and the fiscal so-called conservatives, I never voted for Perot even once. But I have held my nose and voted for the slimy RINOs multiple times. Never again will I vote for any of those backstabbing fools and those RINOs and their enablers in the RNC have only themselves to blame for that. As far as you "republicans" trying to guilt trip conservatives into voting for the socialist with an R next to their names a year and a half before the elections -- stop. That dog will no longer hunt. Only the weakest minded will fall for that stupid trick now. We know we're going to get communist whether we vote for the dems or for the RINOs. The only difference will be speed of arrival and which party gets the blame.
I will only consider voting for conservatives from now on, so you RINOs and RINO lovers better start looking elsewhere for voters to support your socialist ideas.
