Southwest disciplines pilot for rant during flight

(CNN) -- Southwest Airlines disciplined a pilot whose profanity-laced rant about flight attendants was heard by other airplane crews and controllers, officials said Wednesday.

The unidentified pilot bashed flight attendants as a "continuous stream of gays and grannies and grandes," according to a transcript of the March 25 flight over central Texas. The pilot on the Austin to San Diego flight was referring to the sexual orientation, age and attractiveness of flight attendants.

Back then the stews had to be single. If they got married they were unemployed.

The planes weren’t nearly as full and there was more time to fraternize. It was a better, more entertaining job.

He may be right, I haven’t flown Southwest in a long time, however, I think part of the problem was with him sitting there bragging that the locals were beneath his standards, the channel was jammed and ATC couldn’t speak to the other planes in the air. That made it newsworthy.

At least not here anyway. You go to Europe or Asia and they’re attractive females. The freak show who flew a US Airways flight a few weeks ago wearing nothing but women’s panties and thigh high stockings could pass for a male flight attendant in this country.
