He's not guilty of anything yet...but he acts like a guilty guy IMO. For instance, he's only coming to the last stage this year?

So you're Mr. Tour de France...7 time winner...whose reputation is being called into question...yet you never sue those who make allegations against you and you're keeping a very low profile for this year's TdF? Doesn't make sense.

Hey, BN, don’t I recall some photos of you in your racing days from a few years back? Come on! Don’t hold back! Let’s see them again!

What do you bet that Contador attacks at the base of the cat 2 climb? Am I stating the obvious?

Medium mountains - A sporting perspective
JEAN-FRANÇOIS PESCHEUX’S ANALYSIS : An appearance by the favourites

“We are starting to get to the heart of the matter now. There is a second-category col, the Croix Saint-Robert, before the finish. The route is lumpy (as you would expect as we’re in the Massif Central) and will start to take a toll on the legs. However, the favourites rarely lose the Tour on a stage of this kind. But that might happen if there’s a lot of action and one of them ends up struggling with some kind of problem. If that does occur, then the race will really be on. That said, it’s on stages of this type that the sprinters fall back in the overall standings and the favourites climb towards the leading places.”

wow — good on her!!

Sad to see that Horner had to drop out — did not hear specifics but I think he was one of those lying in the ditch after that terrible pile-up yesterday. Very nice to see young Tejay doing so well, exciting!

Still rooting for ABC (anyone but Contador) this year ... cannot stand that man, I don’t care how “attractive” they try to make him in the little bio packages. I do like both Schlecks & Cadel Evans too.

I’m with you. I didn’t like Contador anyway after he attacked Lance when they were riding on the same team. Incredible. Then when he attacked Andy when his chain came off, I was thoroughly disgusted. This is clearly a rider who rides for himself and himself only. He has no concept of “teamwork” or the cyclists’ code of ethics.

Contador: anyone else believe that he sucks this year because he had to stop doping and that his last two TDF wins were dope assisted?

I would be tempted to say that maybe this year Contador is finding out he’s not as smart as he thinks he is.

In his prior wins he chaffed under “adult leadership”.

This year he’s the star on a new team built around him with a lot of Spanish riders.

He’s down over a minute right now because of stupid mistakes a GC rider should not be making.

I think Contador got a little mental damage today when Andy just sat on his wheel during all the attacks. It was like he was telling him that he hasn't got what it takes to break him on a climb but, he left him wondering what he might have in his arsenal to open up with when the time is right.

I would bet that Schleck is planning on an attack where he can drop Contador early and then take a lot of time out of him. My guess is he will have to do it by himself because setting up such a move with a companion gives the rival some protection and some warning.

SUNDAY!

Medium mountains - A sporting perspective JEAN-FRANÇOIS PESCHEUX’S ANALYSIS :
Made to measure for a strong man

“This is a long stage with a very up-and-down profile particularly as it features the Pas de Peyrol and the first-ever ascent of the Col de Perthus. Except for the opening 50km, it’s just climbs and descents all of the way. It’s a real leg-breaker. And if the action really takes off then there certainly won’t be 100 riders coming in together to contest the finish. It’s the kind of stage that should suit Sylvain Chavanel. Last year he won the stage at Les Rousses in the Jura when there were numerous attacks. On this stage, a group containing one of the race’s strong guys could get clear, which could in turn set off any number of counter-attacks, especially as a stage like this is never easy to control.”

Now it starts to get interesting.

This has been such a fun Tour so far! I haven't enjoyed one so much since Lance rode! The American teams are really doing well ( except for the bad luck of Radio Shack). And AC is down in the GC: what more could a girl ask for?!

My husband and 2nd son rode the Triple Bypass today: 3 passes- Squaw, Loveland and Vail= 9600 vertical and 117 miles. They both made it (second time for both) and were exhausted. My husband had a sidewall blowout on the way into Idaho Springs at 40 mph. Just glad he was ok. Delayed, but ok.
One of my son's long time friends and riding partner today trains with Tyler Hamilton in Boulder. I guess Tyler can still turn the pedals pretty impressively despite his recent history.

“Now it starts to get interesting.”

So right, today we start to separate the boys from the mountain goats. I suspect there will be some tired legs later this afternoon!!

Enjoy.
