Children need to be socialized in order to learn to be social. That said, considering parents are too lazy to discipline their children anymore I believe businesses have grounds to prohibit children. Parents do not have the right to bring anything, including unruly children, that disrupts the business.

My grandson is a classic example of an over-nurtured child. His mother PLEADS with him to mind her and makes all sorts of threats that she never follows up on. And when I was watching him alone he needed to “go number 2” and wanted me to “wipe” him!? He’s frickin 6 and a half!!!

I told him that I wasn’t going to and I learned to wipe myself before I was five. He somehow managed. ;-)

The kid is so unruly that he drives the family crazy. But he’s learned to mind me. I follow through with my threats and, other than bruises and one broken bone, he’s doing fine. ;-)

No...socialization has nothing to do with it. Parenting has everything to do w/ it tho. It never takes a village just 2 adults (male & female) who take their roles seriously. If kids are well behaved at home they’ll be that way in public. That said they’re kids and will act that way until mature.

I think it’s worse than that; I think parents are held hostage by their kids, and are terrified of them. Sometimes when I need an affirmation of my decision to not have children, I’ll turn on “Supernanny”. Seems the common denominator among all the parents is that the children — even the very young ones — are thugs, and they constantly bully their parents. Eeewww. (I do know some extremely well-behaved children in our church.)

I don't think it's laziness. I think it's more that parents want to be their kids friends.

My Dad is one of my best friends.......I am 49 and it wasn't until I was well into my 30's that it became so.

Children need to be socialized in order to learn to be social.

That is the purpose of McDonalds. I used it as a first step restaurant training ground for my kids. When they could behave there, they went to sit-down places like Friendly's and the local diner.

From there, they were ready for the big time, nice restaurants.
