Rare or not, jury or not, I’m not going to use a PINK handgun!

If not for the intimidation factor, then for the matter of pride.

If I have to shoot some sorry-ass attacker, he’s going to know I’ve been serious about it all along.

I can barely bring myself to use a pink fishing rod and reel, but it was a gift from my brother. And it’s a grey-pink so not as “girly” as others are... blahhh!

From my experience as a person missing my left thumb, (completely unrelated to shooting — not from an accident) there are no slides I can’t rack in some way.

What I’ve found works best is holding the slide firmly in my left hand (I have to wedge the slide between my index and second fingers, so it isn’t that strong a grip) and using my strong hand to push the frame forward. That way, you’re just holding the slide and using your strong arm to “punch” forward with a strong motion.

Cocking the hammer also helps reduce the slide resistance on pistols with exposed hammers.

It’s about leverage and technique, not pure strength.

Where are the 1911’s?

Kimber Ultra Aegis in 9mm for small hands.

The slide on the LCP racks about as easily as any gun out there.

I do know this: A 12 gauge shotgun with a 28” barrel is a bit harder to carry concealed than a 9mm sub-compact.

;-)

But isn't that why God created hacksaws?       ;^)

Only YOU can find the right gun for YOU, and that by trying.

Good list, very true.
I can hold a 1911-pattern single-stack .45 comfortably, whereas any double-stack is just too 'fat' to allow me a solid grip. A handgun is something that each person should size to their own frame, not someone's opinion of what is the most or best gun.

This may be the solution to your double stack problem.

LOL! I take it the rod was a real gift - he was innocent of trying to embarass you?

I’ve a friend who’s the lone woman in her union of pipefitters in MI. On the job she’s all business & holds up her end of things. Off the job, she’s all glitter & pink stuff. (That’s her naturally, I can’t get my head around it.) Far as I know, she took my advice reference her tools: “Paint ‘em hot pink & put glittery-girly stickers on ‘em. No guy will want to steal your tools.”

Good point.

Many years ago, I repeatedly gravitated toward the Walther PPK every time I visited various gun dealers over a period of time... it felt good every time I handled it, and I still appreciate it over others.

I know that I’m coming in late to this thread, but your post was too funny!

About 6 years ago my husband presented me with a very heavy birthday present. When I unwrapped it, I found a 3 pound antique meat cleaver. This sucker had been pulled from an antique store, loving restored in every way and wrapped with a white bow.

Yes, you could kill just about anything with this sucker.

As I sat there, holding this HUGE tool, all I could think was, ‘Wow. This guy seriously trusts me.’

The best part was that this was the first reaction of all of my female family and friends.

I just got a Ruger LC9 and my 13 year old can rack the slide. She is 5’7”, but weighs about 90 lbs. and skinny as a rail.
