A four-year-old was showing a little friend the family photos that covered one wall in their basement. Out of sight but not out of earshot, her mother overheard her say, “Here’s a picture of my mommy when she was a little girl. I wasn’t there, but people say she used to be nice.”

In 1937, Wheaties held a contest for most popular baseball announcer. Ronald Reagan won the contest and a trip to California. While there, he was asked to do a screen test for Warner Bros., which kicked off his movie career.

Kellogg’s Corn Flakes were accidentally invented in 1894 by Will Keith Kellogg. A Seventh-day Adventist and a vegetarian, Kellogg was looking for a way to improve the diets of vegetarian hospital patients. He dried softened wheat and it turned into thin flakes.

"well, here I come once again with my tail between my legs embarrassed I haven’t been around more."

Well, Dolly, you just take that tail out, from between your legs! We are SO happy to hear from you, whenever you are able to join us!

You are so right, when you say: " it seems it is very rare any more to find people w/o terrible bumps in their lives."

Yes - we all have 'journeys' that may be hard learning lessons. But, we are all so blessed to still have food on the table and a roof over our head. That is more than MOST people have in this world of ours!

I am so greatful for my FRiends, here, and pray for each of you daily. Because you all lift ME up!

Mother’s Intuition

I don’t think I’ll ever have a mother’s intuition.

My sister left me alone in a restaurant with my 10-month-old nephew.

I said, “What do I do if he cries?”

She said “Give him some vegetables.”

It turns out that jalapeno is not his favorite.

Lying on your tummy is BORING, especially if there is nothing on tv worth watching.

I have Found Something Recently that is So Fun to Watch; Old TV Serials and Western Serials and Programs. I had No Idea there were Superman and Batman Programs from the 1940's, (it Sounds Dorky and Cheesy, Lol, but they are Unique and Exciting to Watch), and the Old Westerns from the 1930's and '40's are Fascinating. The Shows are also Good because there is No Filth and Foul Language in them; it's like Entering the Past, and I Never Imagined that these Old Shows could be So Fun! (Some of the Rin Tin Tin's are Good, too.) I Buy them Used or New from Amazon, and Some are only a Couple of Dollars per DVD or Video Tape. I also Love the Beautiful Horses on the Westerns.

We discovered RFDTV, all good clean family music and shows on Dish TV.

Youngest daughter gave us Netflix for Christmas and we watch a lot of the older movies...any one remember Mr. Limpid with Don Knots?

Whispering Bill Anderson is doing a Family Reunion show and it is one of the best things to watch on RFDTV and see the writers and singers of our youth still able to do their music. Comes on on Friday nights. They even have Hee Haw!

BYU TV has restoration of old tractors, and Fons & Porter quilt show which is my favorite. Hubby tapes them and Elenaor Burns shows for me, so I can watch them at my time of choice.

Prayers for our dearest Friend Dubya

Prayers up my FRiend, nothing is to big for HIM to remove. We pray oh, Lord, Father of us all that you will remove this cancer from our dear, dear, friend. Earthly doctors may give up, but we know YOU are the most powerful physician in the universe and nothing is beyond Your power. In the name of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

What a Day that will be

You are most welcome, it is a terrible disease.

I watched both my parents be taken with it.

Keep fighting. And know that you are loved by those of us on FR even though we have never met in person.

Good Neighbors
September 10, 2011

When US airspace was closed after the September 11, 2001, attacks, planes had to land at the closest airport available. Nearly 40 planes landed in Gander, Newfoundland. Suddenly this small Canadian community almost doubled in size when thousands of frightened passengers arrived. People opened their homes, and officials converted high schools, lodges, churches, and meeting halls into places to stay. Stranded passengers were overwhelmed with neighborly generosity and kindness.

The people of Gander showed the kind of love described in Hebrews 13: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels” (v.2). This is probably referring to Abraham when he entertained three men who came to tell him that he would soon have a son (Gen. 18:1-16). Two of the “men” were angels, and one was the Angel of the Lord. Bible commentator F. F. Bruce says about Abraham, “Among the Jews, Abraham was regarded as outstanding for his hospitality as [he was] for his other virtues; a true son of Abraham must be hospitable too.”

God calls believers to show their love and gratefulness for Him in their good works of hospitality and compassion.

How will you answer His call today?

How many lives shall I touch today?
How many neighbors will pass my way?
I can bless so many and help so much,
If I meet each one with a Christlike touch. —Jones

Christlike love is seen in good works.

1 Corinthians 13

1.Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2.And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3.And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4.Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5.Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6.Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7.Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8.Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9.For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10.But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11.When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12.For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13.And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity

There is a religious speaker that tells ... mostly for ORU on TV ... ... she posted this on the inside of her cabinet door in the kitchen, and several times a week or a day, when she gets into a discussion with her husband or others, she turns to that cabinet door and reads these words from the Holy Bible. Especially the specific verse that fits the occasion, In order to stay in control of herself.

Actually a very good idea.

We forget the many faces of Love.
