The viewing public might be split on Chaz Bono's participation on the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars," but the way he sees it, his inclusion on the show is just what the doctor ordered for this country.
Reacting to the criticism he's faced sine the Season 13 cast was announced last week, Bono told ABC News, "It's made me realize I'm really glad I'm doing this, because America really needs to see this."
The 42-year-old only child of Cher and Sonny Bono added, "You know, it just kind of shows why for me it's important to be on the show, because so little still is known about what it means to be transgender. And there's so many just completely inaccurate stereotypes and thoughts that people have."
Bono, who was born Chastity Bono and underwent gender-reassignment surgery last year, ignited passions among "Dancing With the Stars" fans on Monday with the announcement that he'd be competing on the series. Many of the show's faithful expressed their displeasure over the choice on the series' message board.
"When I heard that Chaz Bono was going to be on, I was sick," went one typical anti-Bono tirade. "Not that I have anything personally again her/him, I just don't want that lifestyle choice continually flaunted in the media esp ABC."

Actually, from what you write, what Chastity really needs is a basic science course or a hygiene class (as we called it back in the 17th century).
With all her money, Cher chose to send her daughter to the High School of Performing Arts - known as the Fame school. She pushed her shy daughter into a working-class school that produced very little talent over the years. Then it finally closed.
Cher could have sent her daughter to an exclusive high school and then pushed (if she had to push) her daughter into Juilliard where she would at least have had a chance at a theatrical career - if only as a stagehand! (The ultimate theatrical lesbian career choice.)
But Cher has always been into glitter rather than gold.
I’m not sure I can explain this one to the kids. A woman in a relationship with a woman turns into a man and has a relationship with the same woman.

He’s not a star. He’s the offspring of a star. Maybe they should just rename the show “Dancing With Just About Anybody”
Rumor has it, that Chaz Bono is also demanding to be made the spokesman for Snap-on Tools. . . . .

They can declare whatever they want, but I believe in reality. I’m sympathetic to those who don’t want to hurt her feelings, but the truth is what it is. Chastity is female. You don’t make a patient better by denying the sickness.
Well, actually she had a really good film career going there for a while - “Mask,” a really lovely film in which she played a good, if unorthodox mother, and, of course, “Moonstruck,” a classic. But she entered films too late and by the time she won the Oscar, she was getting too old for Hollywood. So she went back to what she does worst - singing and dancing.
But I can never get it through my brain why these huge stars do not educate their children properly. If I had their money, my kids would have gone to the very best schools money could offer. But, time and time again, the children of Hollywood’s top stars barely make it out of the local high school...

At one time or another, most of the virtues have been used as given names (AFAIK, only female names).

Those who've read more history or have done genealogical research on English/American ancestors from the 17th-19th centuries may be familiar with some of the ones I think haven't been used. Or perhaps male names from the virtues (courage seems likely).]

I used to refer to the show as “Dancing with half-naked chicks.” Now I’ll have revise that. “Mutilated Crazy Chick Dancing with Half-Naked Chicks.”

Isaiah referred to the ruins of Babylon as a place where "demons dance." Perhaps that location would be a great venue for this show.
She was "raised" by Cher. Poor girl already had about 8 strikes against her!
