Inspired by the ugliness of the new Jane's Addiction album, The Great Escape Artist, we here at List Of The Day (ok, just me and a bunch of friends with great suggestions) compiled a bunch of lists of album covers that are, in the technical sense, awful.
The list below is one where real record companies were involved and artists who sold actual records were aware that the albums would go into the stores looking like this.
Fact is, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of terrible album covers. A web-search suggests that 90 percent of them come from religious artists who believe that competent artwork is akin to committing the sin of vanity.
Enjoy these album covers that dare you to enjoy the music held within its confines.

Oh the music was fantastic! I just always thought the replacement album cover looked like it took someone 5 minutes to slap together.
I always thought the guy on the bottom looked like a young Benny Hill.
I bet they are.
That one would have you jailed for a hate crime now days.hehe

I see nothing wrong with this album cover.
Lenny: uh, sure. Sounds fine.
Record exec: Great! You'll be playing on a raft being pulled by a speed boat.
Lenny: What are you talking about?
Record exec: And right next to you will be a girl skiing backwards holding on to the rope with her foot.
Lenny: What the €£%#¥£¥! are you talking about?!
Record exec: And don't forget to wear your good suit.
Lenny: Why, you son of a b!tch, I'll kill you!
That one is a collector’s item. My college roommate had it. After some public outcry, it was reissued with some nondescript Scorpions logo as the cover. So there are relatively few originals of that cover.
I loved Jane Mansfield!
