I hate to say it but Romney was very strong!
Cain by a country mile.
As a Cain supporter, I would have to say Romney will get the most bump from that debate (as a means of identifying “winner”)....
Simply because he seemed to be the center of everyone’s attention, and got the most air-time... and held together with firmness... iow, he defended himself well.
I didn’t watch but I was watching answers on twitter.
I think this debate leaves me needing to go to the candidates individual websites and look at their plans in detail.
There was no real debate tonight. It was more a round table discussion with no winners.
Wrongney.
Who won? The Republicans
newt.
cain.
Romney won. Had good command the entire debate.
Cain did a good job but he needs to be more of a politician and a less of a businessman and speak a little longer before cutting himself off because he makes a lot of good points.
Perry was weak in the beginning, but came on strong in the end. Didn’t hurt himself but didn’t help himself either.
Newt, once again, came off as “the smartest guy in the room”.
The others don’t matter.
Unfortunately, the Tigers have taken the lead in the 7th.
Cain - 1st for consistency and directness followed by
Romney 2nd for style and decorum followed by
Gingrich 3rd for being the smartest man on the dance floor.
Perry fumbled and bumbled - great guy but poor debate prep
Bachman says the right things but comes off as a “Me too”
Santorum - the great spoiler lobbing grenades at whoever leads
Paul - is it me or are his eyebrows falling off?
Huntsman - .... Huntsman who?
Romney again. He’s a good debater and none of the candidates really call him out for his flip flopping, RINO past. Mitt just continues getting away with being a chameleon, and because he is a very polished politician he will keep on winning these debates if he continues going unchallenged.
I thought Cain did not so well. Took a solid hit from Santorum. Do we really want a whole new Federal Sales Tax? Tea Partiers like this? If Cain can include 999 in every single answer, why can’t Bachmann go back to saying “One.Term.President.” that everybody likes? Cain’s question to Romney “why can’t you fit your entire economic plan on a napkin” did not help Cain.
Otherwise no clear winners. Romney got a lot of airtime and didn’t do badly. Gingrich always does well. Paul did well with “what? Greenspan sucked” and he audience responded well then. Santorum might be auditioning for attack dog VP candidate. He really does attack well.
Romney /spit and Cain tied for the win. Grrrr re MittCare Romney.
Doesn’t matter the game is rigged.....
My Governor Perry can’t seem to get his brain and mouth to function at the same time, so I’m writing him off. He will need at least 5 yrs. to work on his debating skills. Romney was his polished self, but I don’t trust or like him.
I just don’t know how Cain is going to get all the stuff done he wants to do having to go thru Congress. Santorum has lots of energy but seems a little hot headed. Bachman not enough experience this time around. I get a laugh out of Ron Paul every time and something was up with those eyebrows. Huntsman needs some of that Low T medicine so that leaves me with the smartest man in the room and not afraid to show it.......Newt!
I must first say this was the best debate so far. No stupid gotcha questions, and everyone stayed on point. Of course there was our resident heckler, but the candidates (wisely)ignored him and I suspect he was dealt with promptly.
The point was to possibly trip Cain up, and it didn't work. Mitt of course was given more than a few softball questions.
I think the winner of the debate was the GOP voters who actually got to hear each of the candidates. I like Cain, but I think Gingrich is a dark horse (no pun intended) that may sneak up on everyone. He's been solid in every debate so far. I especially liked how he and Santorum would not be silenced or treated like and after thought.
Cain: I'll say one thing and I am being totally objective: I LOVE the way he has NO hesitation when answering a question. No chuckle. No word salad until he comes up with something. He fires back in less than a second with clarity. You don't have to like it, but ya gotta respect it.
Losers? Let's start with Perry. I'm sure he's a nice guy, gotta be conservative if they love you in Texas. But for goodness sake man, drink some Red Bull before going out there! The slow response to questions are grinding on my nerves. Right now, I can't see him handling the punches in the general.
Next: Bachmann. Fire the guy who gave you the 666 joke. It went south (again, no pun intended), and I wasn't amused. I get the fact the she raised a bunch of kids, and she's still pretty hawt for a 55 year-old, but I'm long since over it. Still, if she hits the streets in IA and NH hard, she could make waves.
Paul: Look, either come up with a damn policy or get off the stage. But I gotta admit, he didn't say anything stupid tonight. But is he really siding with the astro-turfed flea-baggers? Jeez!
So, if I gotta pick'em, I'd say Gingrich, Cain, Santorum. I'll let others pick the order.
I'm out
