Not an animal I know - and almost all malaria deaths can be laid at the feet of “environmentalists” who are mostly watermelons - green on the outside and RED on the inside.
And Hippos, despite their aggressive nature, are herbivores - they don’t EAT people, so it wasn’t because he was hungry, and the farmer isn’t hippo poop, and he didn’t move down on the food chain.
Hippos are aggressive and territorial and mean sons of hippos - but they are not predators and they don’t eat people - they just like to kill, apparently.

Old fact: each year more people in Africa are killed by hippos than by lions & leopards combined. When I was in Africa, no animal frightened me more than hippos. (Most people are surprised to hear that.) They are huge and very agressive.
