Chow Time: Who makes MREs?
Rock Center ^

Apparently Brian Williams has a new show. Sandusky tried to smooth things over on it last night and it didn't go well.

This is a little sunnier so I figured I'd post it. It's a look at the MREs--or Meals Ready to Eat--that soldiers are stuck with. Pretty good.

When I was in Vietnam MREs came onto the field. I liked Ham & Eggs and Corn Flake bars. Okay, fire away.

It beat the canned Ham and Lima Beans in C-rations. However, the USAF had flight C-rats, which left out the c-rat offerings with beans, due to the unfortunate side effects they had on the eatee at altitude. Instead, the USAF rations had tinned tuna fish, very nice, and very tradable.

Best meals going? The freeze-dried LRRP rations. which included, among other things, freeze-dried ice cream.

Ham and MF’rs........hmmmmm ummmmm muuuuum !

Flatulent Feast for fighters if every there was one....:o)

MRE’s during Vietnam ? Saw an had LRRP rats but never was far enough on the dark side to see a MRE’s till after April of 75 myself. Was on steady diet of C’s in early 70 for 6 months and then again in 90/91 for about 6 months.

One can survive on Pound Cake and Peaches. Spaghetti and Meatballs, beef jerky from the Ft Lewis WA donations and donated Corsicana Texas fruitcake for YEARS !......LOL .

Bedouin green tea with Camels milk was a gagger but goat fajitas with some lemons and steamed kale leaves chased with smuggled Vat69 and Tiger Beers was awesome desert Storm fare.

Military travels on it’s gut...... treat it well.

Stay safe Archy !

That´s what they were. LRRP Rations. Though they marked the beginning for the MREs.

You´re right. Ham & Lima Beans.... Yuck! Pretty funny about the beans at altitude.

Best. And Thanks for Your Service.

Yum, the Beef Stew and BBQ hockey pucks were the best. Plus the cherry chocolate “cake” and ranger pudding made out of the hot chocolate, coffee, sugar and creamer packs.

Always avoid the Tuna casserole.

Had C-Rats back in the day { Some sort of Meat Patty soaked in 30 weight. The Sarge said I was lucky to have it, I wasnt so sure}.
The MREs are better. The Veggie ones seem gross. The one thing I noticed about the Chocalite cookies is that they seem to have a adverse effect on my sex drive. Then again it could have been me.
Stay away from the Chicken Chow Mein. It looks like chunky bloodhound drool.
